You missed Matt Gray substituting for broken finger victim Harry Dowd in 1963.We had a few outfield players going in nets in the 70's to 90's until keepers were allowed onto the bench
Mike Doyle (twice)
Bobby MacDonald
Tommy Booth
Steve Redmond
Nigel Gleghorn (twice)
Niall Quinn
The last outfield player to do so was Kyle Walker away at Atalanta - after Ederson went off injured at half time and then replacement Claudio Bravo was sent off.
Loved both of those games as a kid on the Kippax. When I see the White goals v Scousers they still give me goosebumps.Won 2-1.
The result relegated Derby, we also relegated Sunderland in the next home game.
Saunders who missed the penalty, signed for Liverpool along with Mark Wright in pre season. We played Liverpool at home the first home game of the season won 2-1 again with Saunders missing another penalty at the Platt Lane end.
The David White show :)Won 2-1 then 3 days later 5-1 win at Villa.
They even debated the White 2nd goal, was it over the line or not on Granada reports the following night.Loved both of those games as a kid on the Kippax. When I see the White goals v Scousers they still give me goosebumps.
Pretty sure we relegated 2 teams at home the next season as well; Notts County and West Ham.
I actually watched the highlights of that game last night on YouTube along with the 2-1 win when Reidy got the winner.Won 2-1 then 3 days later 5-1 win at Villa.
Ha!They even debated the White 2nd goal, was it over the line or not on Granada reports the following night.
Miles over the line from my vantage point, about half way up the Kippax
Well I didn’t miss him out, I just listed the 70’s onwards lol but yes you are right. You missed Matt Gray substituting for broken finger victim Harry Dowd in 1963.
Dowd returned with his arm in a sling and scored the equalising goal.
And only 14,698 at MR to see it too...Well I didn’t miss him out, I just listed the 70’s onwards lol but yes you are right.
Colin Bell scored for Bury on his debut too
Not that bad a crowd for the George Poyser era.And only 14,698 at MR to see it too...
We absolutely battered them in the 2-1 win that Sunday afternoon.I actually watched the highlights of that game last night on YouTube along with the 2-1 win when Reidy got the winner.
Are some of us being proved right here on the Aguero goal debate?Interestingly, Martin Tyler commentated on the save and called it Stupendous.
Understood. Not that bad a crowd for the George Poyser era.
My 1st ever memory of a city game was us scoring in the first 10 minutes against Livarpool but it was disallowed. I was really scared when we scored because I was a small boy and the Kippax was a proper scrum and packed. I didn't even know it had been disallowed. Anyway David Fairclough the ginger striker came on with about 10 minutes left and scored their winner for them so its good getting evens from your memory of that game.It was near the end of the game as well, inside the last few minutes which made it even sweeter.
Ah, well I know who you are now! And that was Eddy Sheehan. That got a right big cheer. I took the lead singer from the Irish band toss the feathers to that game as I was the drummer and he hadn't ever seen a live game him being from Ireland. He absolutely loved it when Niall Quinn saved the penalty.
Dare I open this can of worms?!Are some of us being proved right here on the Aguero goal debate?
2 brilliant away performances, was there for both.I actually watched the highlights of that game last night on YouTube along with the 2-1 win when Reidy got the winner.
