Yes and much of that stuff operates on a subconscious level, so she might not have even realised she was doing it.I reckon it’s a fairly common physiological thingamajig where someone suspects something but it’s more convenient, comforting and/or satisfying to just ignore it and carry on as if it’s not happening.
She probably at least had an idea but thought if I ignore it, it might go away.
or destroy her career, her party and the Scottish government. Given the red flags (and I'm not talking about motor homes - the pair of them were £200,000+ earners and can afford a few luxuries) of everyone involved in the finance of the SNP (except Murrell) resigning because they couldn't get anywhere near the facts, it is incomprehensible that she didn't 1) understand the potential fallout if there was wrong doing 2) conduct a full financial review to establish the facts. In fact faced with all the multiple signs she did absolutely nothing.I reckon it’s a fairly common physiological thingamajig where someone suspects something but it’s more convenient, comforting and/or satisfying to just ignore it and carry on as if it’s not happening.

Obviously this is a very serious example but we’ve all done it in our careers, just most often at very minor, inconsequential levels.Yes and much of that stuff operates on a subconscious level, so she might not have even realised she was doing it.
I agree. Every human does it from time to time.Obviously this is a very serious example but we’ve all done it in our careers, just most often at very minor, inconsequential levels.
My take on it is that once she realised what he was doing it would be political suicide for her to expose it. She ignored it to save her own political career.
her only option was to find out what had happened - any competent audit might have identified problems with the more conspicuous items. Then expose it irrespective of the consequences. Transparency would in the long term been less damaging than what is now going to play out.The moment she kept him on instead of saying as leader, I don’t want any sort of accusation of favouritism etc was the second she was finished politically if she or the public became aware of any wrongdoing and agree, I think she did know, she had to know and couldn’t then do anything knowing it finished her and that’s her biggest crime here.

I am so torn on this as previously like most of the world that isn't biased against her, I thought she was a very clever politician. I mean really smart.
Shows how wrong you can be. There are only two potential conclusions. Dishonesty or Incompetence. Both are pretty much a death knell for any politician. I still think this has the potential to bring down the Scottish Government if Swinney continues to refuse a proper enquiry. I must check out the LK interview as there are a series of questions that any journalist worth their salt should be asking about her actions within the
Fun fact. He started to embezzle just two or three months after their marriage.Sturgeon was with Murrell for over 20 years, she was smart enough to become the first minister of Scotland, I can only draw one conclusion for me “dishonest and incompetent”
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks".Have watched the interview. Thought she came across as pretty plausible, but still think she’s finished.
Agree with the advice she was given about not answering questions in interview, given it was followed up by a detailed written statement answering them. Her head will have been all over the place. They did their job for her there.
A government that would probably look much different had the hearings not been delayed.or destroy her career, her party and the Scottish government. I suspect it would mate. That is another element of thsi not even mentioned yet. The role of the the Scottish Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain in this.A government that would probably look much different had the hearings not been delayed.
