Ah I get it. By the way on 99℅ of goals City has conceded this year Otamendi did not slide. If ass has been noted, he slid every attempt he got, and based on the ℅ of success rate. It stands to reason we would have conceded fewer and not more goals.

Just because you have a viceral reaction to the goals conceded when he doesn't get a tackle, doesn't mean you should ignore the reality that in a majority of the situations where he in fact wins those tackles, he is saving a goal from being scored.

On the balance he's slide tackles are a net positive for the squad.

.

I prefer my eyes than bullsh*t stats. He's rash and he does it at the wrong time sometimes, it has cost us in several games. In fact a rash moment from him charging out to close someone down played a part in one of the goals conceded vs Spurs. I don't mind the enthusiasm or tenacity but sometimes you need to use your f*cking brain instead of selling yourself!

I thought Otamendi was very poor for Son's goal. Noting that Otamendi was being forced to try cover for defensive errors by the midfield (especially Toure), essentially having to mark Kane and Son. Nevertheless, I thought Otamendi's decision to appeal for offside against Kane, while he was still the best placed player to try to block the shot from Son was very poor.

Agreed. Albeit, Kane was in fact offside trap believe.

So just offside "a few centimetres" is harsh ?

F*ck off, its offside, that is the rule, offside is offside for a reason.
I understand his point. It's tough in real time to tell, and when you are not absolutely sure you give the advantage to the forward. I agree with that too.

There could be no complaints if it were given, but similarly complaints that it was not given are unreasonable. If you get down to millimetres nobody can even tell. At a few centimetres it is getting a bit pedantic. It was a tough call and crying about a decision like that is pointless. Offside is there to stop people goal hanging and taking blatant liberties. No need to whine about a few centimetres. How could Otamendi even tell for sure with such a fine margin?

Sterling was also centimetres offside when he went through for the penalty.

Both are such narrow margins you can't complain. Otamendi got caught appealing in no mans land for the son goal because he was late getting to Kane.

Reminds me of his 'appeal' against Costa after he'd been bullied and allowed him to score.

Sadly, it was Zaba who played them on.
