How hard is it to understand that NDJ wasn't signing a new contract, so he could sign a pre contract for someone for nothing in January, and that he knows he won't start that many games for us (see last season), so the player himself wanted to go ? It suits both parties, especially if we are bringing in a replacement.

Regardless, the price is ridiculous imo. We need to take lessons from Wenger on how to get a decent fee for a player who is in the last year of his contract.
But we didn't want him. How is that hard to understand. Arsenal wanted RVP and Nasri.

I'm not convinced that we didn't want him at all. That is just your opinion. We had offered him a new contract hadn't we? Basically we sell low and buy high time and time again. Bottom line, if Swansea can get over 6 million for Scott Sinclair with the same contract situation then I think we can safely say that selling NDJ for 3.5 is a steal for Milan. How hard is that to understand?

What gave you the impression we didn't want him? Even if Mancini secretly didn't rate him, there was no public indication we wanted rid of him now and he started our last league game which should in theory tell interested clubs that he's still an important asset to us.
What gave me the impression? The fact we have spent all summer trying to bring in a better DM in Martinez, DDR and Garcia as De Jong wasn't particularly rated by RM (14 league games last season) and he wouldn't sign a new contract. I mean I know we have kept it all hidden and stuff......

I do sometimes wonder how often brains are engaged on bluemoon.

I think we were trying to sell him because he wouldn't sign a new contract. End of last season Mancini was starting with him and same at the start of this season. If we don't manage to get Garcia in today (and it is surely a big if at the moment) then selling NDJ for the sake of 3.5 million quid is going to look ludicrous imo.

De Jong will be a massive loss for us. Not just in terms of what he brought us on the pith but he was a massive personality in the dressing room. Gutted to see him go. We better pull something out the bag today or I will be asking big questions of what we've done this summer.

he was injured first 1/2 of season, thats why he was restricted in his appearances. I will miss him, but the club/his mates will miss him more. Thanks NDJ xo

All the best of Luck to Nige, he has been a great signing on and off the pitch for us. I am sad to see him leave but I am sure he will do well at AC Milan. They have got a bargain and a diamond there.

I know what you're saying, but when a club enquires about a player you don't begin the negotiating by letting them know that you don't really want him anyway.
If the reported fee is correct then this is a terrible bit of business. Just how, in winning the FA cup and the premiership title, not to mention being a world cup finalist, has Nigel decreased in value so dramatically in his time with us?

Not concerned with the amount we get for him tbh
NDG helped secure the prem for us 3.5 is a fair price for him for the OUTSTANDING service he has provided to us from the day he came so calm down mate we gained alot more than the transfer fee suggests.
GOOD LUCK NIGEL AND GODBLESS :)

You're not at all concerned by how much we get when we sell a high class, experienced international at the peak of his career to one of the biggest clubs in Europe? Fair enough. Why does everyone assume that anytime anyone questions any piece of business done by the club that they are not calm or they are a rag or they are a spoilt child or they are flapping etc? I'm perfectly calm, I'm just not a happy clapper who thinks absolutely everything the club does has to be wanktastically amazing by definition.
