Nine years ago today - FA Cup semi-final against United

Perfect thread for this.

It was the game GPC knew his time was up and we were coming for him.
I'd completely forgotten that SWP played that day (albeit as a sub).

Probably the most nervous I've ever been before a game. A truly incredible day, and probably the key turning point in our modern history.

Remember leaving the pub to go to the stadium and felt like I was leaving my locker room to head to a world title fight. Unbelievable nerves and adrenaline. Only lost that edge a bit after we were bloody awful in the first 25 mins! Haha

The one and only time i've been to Wembley. Went down to London with my dad, got into the Green Man via the passage behind the place - got straight in and steamed into the pints. Great day inside and outside the ground, United are and were so fucking simple to wind up.

Top 5 of greatest day supporting city, on the final whistle crying like a baby on the floor which I don't mind saying, coming home on the coach feeling like we where going to go places as a club, yaya was a god from that day for me, an unforgettable day.
Yaya was unplayable 2nd half, ran all over there midfield, remember Scholes trying to hang on to him, 5 mins later he got sent off for a challenge on Zaba

The thing about that game was, and this is impossible to prove of course, but I've always believed that if we had got beat that day, the whole of the next few years might well have been different.

No end to the trophy drought. Knocked out of a cup in the semi final stage by united for the second time in 2 years. The coverage would have been all about how united "have the class to put money bags city in their place time and time again" etc. Who is to say the our mentality wouldnt have been affected the following year when we found ourselves 8 points behind with 6 games to play.

For this reason I've always believed, and always will believe, that the steely inner core that Mancini imparted into that team makes him our greatest ever manager. He never once to my knowledge disrespected our opponents and rivals but equally he never ever talked them up or us down in the lead up to a match.

Every city fan owes Mancini an unpayable debt of gratitude for that season. It directly lead to everything that has happened since.

He came. He saw. He conquered. Impossible to be a city fan and not love him. Impossible.

Great day out. I was pissed so not nervous. Atmosphere outside the Greyhound was great. They should really have been 1-2 nil up in first 15 mins and I feared the worst. Cometh the hour cometh the Yaya.

I was in club Wembley for this one getting shit from the rags who seemed to occupy all the boxes behind me....
When Yaya scored me and 2 lads sat in front of me jumped up and bounced for about 10 mins....... :-)
Didn't hear another peep.out of the twats behind us...Great day that ... As some have said, that seemed to put us well and truly on the map and we've not looked back since .....!

Will never forget that feeling when yaya scored, utd fans was gobby as usual, even had one and I can't believe I've remembered it but he said he didn't even want to win the cup he just didn't want us in the final. I must have sent the text back to him oh at least a hundred times.

The best feeling ever beating them ****s in that semi final.

To celebrate me and my father in law went for a curry at the spice tower and had a few cheeky scoops.
