+1 for being a lonely City supporting schoolkid surrounded by plastic United fans in the 90s and Oasis being about the only thing I had on my side. Otherwise it was just relegation banter and Curly fucking Watts. Won't have a bad word said against them, no one was holding a gun to their head to wear City colours on the NME and play Maine Road. His songs have aged very well, and as a schoolkid in the 90s it was great to see Blues from south Manchester get so far, even though it all got a bit cheesy when the tabloids jumped on it. The problem is some of the stuff he comes out with. What comes across as 'swagger' and 'attitude' when you're in your twenties comes across completely differently when you're in your fifties. Johnny Marr and Mike Pickering are also lifelong Blues who have been very successful in music, would rather be stuck in a lift with them.
