Noel Gallagher on Talksport

His songs have aged very well, and as a schoolkid in the 90s it was great to see Blues from south Manchester get so far, even though it all got a bit cheesy when the tabloids jumped on it. The problem is some of the stuff he comes out with. What comes across as 'swagger' and 'attitude' when you're in your twenties comes across completely differently when you're in your fifties. Johnny Marr and Mike Pickering are also lifelong Blues who have been very successful in music, would rather be stuck in a lift with them.
+1 for being a lonely City supporting schoolkid surrounded by plastic United fans in the 90s and Oasis being about the only thing I had on my side. Otherwise it was just relegation banter and Curly fucking Watts. Won't have a bad word said against them, no one was holding a gun to their head to wear City colours on the NME and play Maine Road.

when do you ever hear Johnny or Mike being asked about City in the media ?,they're
obviously not high profile as Noel is. I'll always be so glad he is a blue and wasn't a rag.

Bit of a nasty post. All I have seen over the last 20 odd years is a really talented books from Burnage who has stood up for City and promoted us when it really was not fashionable. What he does with his money is his business. He gets freebies etc because that’s the world we live in but at least he does go to games.
People might not like his music and that’s fine nor agree with his opinions on City and that’s also fine.
Find it weird to always read bitterness when it comes to noel and liam. They helped make supporting city fashionable when we were absolute gash.

As regards to him getting freebies, youre absolutely correct. Its the world we love in.
The game last year when we lifted the prem trophy i was lucky to be invited into a club box after the game. It was full of all sorts of minor celebrities but the one that intrigued me was Nigerias biggest rapper , or summat.
My pal who helps sort it all said the rapper asked for tickets for him and 3 others. He was invited totally free and only asked to post something on his social media as he has something like 20m followers. The cost of him being in the box is tiny compared to the exposure he would give the club for a quick insta post.

Mad world

No doubt Noel has the higher profile, is our most famous fan and has always spoken up for the club. Just that Johnny and Mike are less arrogant, more open-minded blokes in my opinion, are also Manc musicians, and are also lifelong Blues. Might be doing Noel a disservice but this is a reputation he's carved out for himself.

Mark E Smith was one of our maverick fans,we have a lot,The Doves etc, I'm just glad they're blues.
Noel is asked,in the spotlight more than most,he'll have off days and good.

His arrogance is part of his image, that he keeps up,no doubt for a laugh.

Anyone would think the lad went on air and called Pep a fraud. He went on air and said that there isn't a big wild conspiracy like some of our bonkers fans imagine there to be, but the press is cooler on us because it's full of red shirts (true) and that Mahrez was a great player for us but perhaps not a key player for us (also true, or at the very least a perfectly reasonable position held by a lot of fans, me included).

Leave Curly out of it

Some just don’t like him and never will. He’s a top bloke and great company. I think he’s sound and considering how idolised and wealthy he is he’s also very very grounded.
Can’t please everybody I suppose.
Pure jealousy mate, that's what the majority are like in this country, big em up, then knock em down...its the British disease.

Noel and (to a lesser extent Liam) has been following City home and away for decades. That includes lots of away matches at obscure grounds in Division 3. I have seen him many times and spoken to him on a few occasions. He often goes in with the normal fans (not just corporates) I sat close to him at Old Trafford for that terrible League Cup semi-final in 2010. He was locked in with the rest of us.There was an ugly atmospere inside and outside that stadium and Noel walked right through the United fans with the rest of us and no protection. He is a proper City fan who, like the rest of us, is entitled to his opinion. I am not a huge fan of Oasis either.
Well said mate

I met Noel once in Manchester I was walking through town with my little lad before kick off.

I stopped him and just asked could we get a photo with him. He was incredibly nice, No problem getting a photo. He was talking about City to my little lad then not for long less than a minute just asking who his favourite player is ect

He was sound as fuck.

I don't get the hate I have seen him at plenty of away games before we where half decent

No i'm not, just not a fucking fanboy,we get it honest we do.

Have a think of this for a sec, being as you seem to know it all, there are as many in the dislike camp than in the like camp, just let that sink in for a minute, and think of the word opinion.

It'll help you in the long run,to stop saying things like stop talking shit, and it being embarrassing
How the fuck can any City fans slag Noel or even Liam off i will never know, it purely has to be down to music taste because as a City fan, as people have previously stated, theyve both been there from the 70's and 80's and was often seen at away games in our darkest days, all Noel ever does when on TV or on talksport etc is defend city with a passion, he loves the club and will not have a bad word said about them, his amp that he takes on tour with him all over the world has the city badge draped over it, he promotes us worldwide, the guy's an amabassador yet you still manage to get these idiots who still find reasons to slag him off, astounds me.

Noel Gallagher is the best ambassador this club has ever had. He does all these interviews about City, presumably for nothing, because he loves the club. He represents the supporters really well overall. I remember when Oasis split and he did a press conference and at the end he said something like "If you excuse me, I've got a football club to support".

Back in the 90s Oasis were a hundred times bigger than City and there can be no doubts that they boosted our image purely because of their support.

And showed a defiance when them cunts ruled the world, imagine if they'd been rags, fuck me.

Think he’s a classic armchair fan with ill informed opinions.

I find him quite embarrassing whenever he’s given a platform to talk about the club, obviously hasn’t got a clue these days.

Also weird that the club keep letting him into the changing rooms, like any of the players know who he is haha

Yeah the players won’t have heard of Oasis will they! That’s why Liam is filling Knebworth with loads of teenagers and 20 odd year old at his gigs. Armchair is someone who never goes to games btw.
