Nolito

Would you be comfortable starting him in a squad wanting to challenge for the UCL title though?

14m is a bargain as you say for a Navas replacement - just hope he isn't going to start if we sign him.
With his stats and experince under pep who he has played for before then i would have no worries

Stats mean next to nothing..... so he's scored more for a Spanish side without an at his peak Torres and Villa that Navas played with?
System, teammates etc affect stats that the player can't affect.
Would you bet that Vardy would score as many in Arsenals system?

What a strange comment given he starts for his National side who are one of the most attractive, and effective, attacking sides in world football.

Yeah... I'm totally unfamiliar with this player aside from the Euro's where he seems to be OK but not worthy of a first team place on a squad hoping to challenge for the UCL - admittedly I could be totally wrong based on the small sample I've seen of him.

He's good enough to start in a squad wanting to win an international tournament.

I don't think either of us have seen enough of him but it looks like you're basing your opinion on his cost and three matches.

I think if the deal gets done great. Another option to Pep. Can offer something different to what is at the club already. I think watching Spain playing the link up play from the atttackers in it has been brilliant at times. Silva and Nolito all have contributed to goals so far. I think it would be a bargain. We seen how we coped when KDB was out . Also think its more competition for Sterling who i would back money on he will become a better player under Pep and will learn from Nolito.

How old was Fernandinho when we signed him? Not affected his ability, desire to play or energy levels. If a player is good enough he is good enough no matter how young or old he is, it works both ways.

People can scream out for a youth player to be given a chance but don't like a player in his late twenties to be given a chance..

Someone used that Argument when we signed Navas..... turned out I was right, average at best.... hope I'm wrong this time ;)
And yet Navas is one of the best squad players we have purchased,he always gives his very best and has easily repaid his transfer fee with his performances.I will state i dont believe 4th place would have been achieved without his contribution.

And this lad looks to be a class above, for 14m.

Agreed on the "I haven't seen enough of him" part.

But, International squads are tricky - politics and simple lack of anyone worthwhile at a particular position means the likes of Jo and Fred start for a supposedly top top squad (I actually believe that Brazil kind of suck, but I think you take my point).

A commercial squad though with a lot of money (like City), can pick and choose from the best. No way we'd settle for second rate in any position.

Nolito strikes me as a very good team player with enough skill to fill in when someone better needs a rest and/or is injured. 14m asking price seems to confirm that opinion. I don't mind at all that we're interesting in signing him - but he's just not good enough by a long shot to regularly start for me.

If he fits in a team ethos like Spain he should be a good addition. For the cost he seems a bargain to me. About time we analysed options like this one.

Here's an opinion from somebody who hasn't watched Nolito.

He's good enough to command a permanent place in our starting XI, just as he is for Spain.

Pep is a major squad rotator, but if you think he's getting Nolito to bench him in favor of (Sterling, Navas, insert other winger here) then you're barking up the wrong tree.
