North Stand Construction Discussion

BBC are definitely not a professionally run organisation that tries to maximise its income from tax payers. Just look at them sending Stone all round the world to report on utds meaningless friendlies. Or having 871 employees "working" in Qatar for a World Cup that was being played in one City

Exactly !! Not a chance a broadcaster would switch down microphones to make make what they are showing sound shit.

I’ve always found it strange as well as interesting that you can clearly hear the singing and chanting at Anfield and Old Trafford on the TV. Especially the loudness. You can also clearly hear individual shouts and screams at both grounds, especially at Anfield, on the TV. Compare to to the Etihad.

The next time these 2 teams play at home and it’s on the TV make a note of the above. Especially United’s new singing section at OT. Considering it’s only 1500 fans and the singing section is located at the back of the stand in-between the main stand and the Stretford End, where there shouldn’t be an mics, the singing and noise comes across loud and clear on the TV. Or maybe I’m just hearing things?

Sorry to say I watched our game last season and whilst the commentators were chatting with each other one of them actually turned the crowd noise down so they could hear each other.

People who know what they’re talking about will probably find this ridiculous but…. Is it not possible to build a new tier on top of the existing bottom tier at a steeper angle so that it meets the bottom of the current top tier?

Essentially if you drew a line from row 1 at pitch side to the bottom of the upper tier, that would be the angle.

All the foundations are there etc so you’d just be building on top of the existing seating.

That way you could have one full end tier?

Yeah it’s possible. It would mean closing the bottom tier off though and I’d imagine they want the seats there while they build the new upper section. There’s the possibility some seats in the 2nd tier will be lost during construction so they won’t want to lose too much revenue.

Maybe if we get an expanded 2nd tier they’ll consider joining up the bottom and top in future but financially they might not think it’s worth it since there would be no extra income as a result of it. It would cost a good few million while bringing no extra capacity.
