North Stand Construction Discussion

At Maine Rd loads used to arrive early and leave late because we had over a dozen great pubs within walking distance and the curry mile on our doorstep.
The quantity and quality of pubs we have now are shit in comparison which is why many can't wait to get away.
If we have great bars and restaurants In the vicinity more people will be inclined to stay longer myself included.
So true.
The streets were very busy pre & post match, good old booze pubs everywhere.

Curry mile and a punch up with the OB outside The Clarence & Albert were derigour !!

Great days

I did mine and made comments on transport, but I don't think they have the clout to make the difference you're suggesting. The transport can only be fixed by making the trams better, which will have a small impact, otherwise I don't really know what they can do, the road layout and number of cars leaving at the same time will always be an issue.
I’m not suggesting for a second it is. It’s a chance to make views known. They could make it better if there was a will.

It's not next to the ground though. It's a 20-minute walk down the road. It only takes around 25 minutes to walk back to Picc, so there's not much point in pushing Ashbury's - we need better infrastructure to and from Picc station and maybe an improved park and ride system going the other way.

We aren't talking revolutionary stuff. TFGM could have 5 double trams lined up at the end of each game (going to Picc) and that would significantly improve the situation.

There’s room to put a siding and bay platform in at the stadium so we could have dedicated double car trams running back and forth at peak times….to Piccadilly. It would be expensive to construct and the club may have to lease or buy a few additional trams ( but they could lease them back to GMPTA during the week etc).something needs to be done the present metrolink service is not even close to being fit for purpose But it should be a large part of the solution.

It would be great to have a match day bus terminal and have special buses that go to different areas of Manchester from the ground, especially those areas that aren't on the tram network.

Do you think Sheik Mansour is made of money. ;-D

See my response to @pride in battle
So you are happy with the transport strategy are you. You think it’s spot on? If you don’t as I don’t then this is the best way to tell them. The majority on here think transport is inadequate at present but now the club give us a chance to comment its agree irrespective? Ffs.

I've not had chance to read much or do the questionnaire but will try to (very busy at mo).

I'm all for expansion but travel is a huge issue.

I travel c. 180 miles each way for a home game and midweek games have become a virtual no-no. It's not just about Manchester but that is the major challenge.

I'm sure more could be doen but I can imagine why the Council aren't much help.

Etihad Rail are the largest, and fastest expanding, operator in the GCC.

Give the Metro franchise to them...Etihad Airways Etihad Rail, Etihad Hotel, Etihad Campus, Etihad Stadium.

I also believe that the Dubai Metro has been voted the best in the world.

There may be a solution here !!

Liverpool fans would love this. They would burn it down & smash all the buses up
:-)
