North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

I appreciate the PL for our fans is a much bigger draw than the CL, even after City won the CL in Istanbul.

But last night was another wake up call for the people running the club, no need to name them, and the CL match ticket prices.

According to Amazon the attendance was around 48,000, give or take last night. 5000 under current capacity, give or take, which included 100's, maybe,1000's of Feyenord fans in the City home ends.

If the North stand would have been open last night the Etihad would have been 12,000 under capacity, give or take.

City need to be very careful how they price CL match tickets in the future, more so than the PL. But PL match match ticket prices also need to be looked at when the expanded Etihad stadium is open.

^ it’s not just the CL match ticket prices, which are anything between 11% to 36% more expensive than the previous few seasons, even though there’s one more game to pay for this season (and looking likely there’ll be another in the KO prelim round).

It’s the constant increasing of Season Ticket prices that sees fans say ‘right, I’m coming out of the Cup Schemes, I can’t justify paying these price rises for STs anymore without pinching from somewhere else’.

I would not worry as we won't be in the CL next season, not a chance with this side.

I sold my ticket last night, I decided a few weeks ago I can’t be arsed the hassle of walking in the rain to get a bus been pissed wet through then doing the same on the way back for a competition I’m not that arsed about. It’s my last season in the CL, thought we might get to Munich but that’s highly unlikely now. I’ll still do the league games midweek, let the day trippers come but as it was plainly obvious last night we ain’t got as many as the club think unless it’s Madrid etc. I watched at home and enjoyed it for the first 75 mins. The other schemes I’ll stay in until my points will inevitably see me not get a ticket for the final in the fa cup, you can never catch those at the top now so it’s a mute point these days. The powers that be should really look at the pricing in the new North Stand and do what they did in the SS L3 when it first opened I’d say £500 max for at least half of it.

Can't be true, certain posters told us it was confirmed the best part of a year ago. It was that daft I've forgotten what he kept saying it was.
There are some nutters on here.

It's going to be named the 93.20 and opened by Kun & Daveed.

Ignore the nutters & stick with what and who you trust.

Are you up for dumping the away fans in the wet seats with a shite view and no acoustics.

An all City end with 8000 singers under the roof will make a right racket.

Two ends are better than one !!

Pricing has been a contentious and growing issue for several years.

The club have squeezed the fans to the point where loyal long standing fans are having to be selective about which tickets and games they can afford to buy/attend.

The alienation of our fans is unnecessary and very damaging on every level at a time when the club and team need every single bit of support they can get.

Disenfranchised your core customers is a dangerous practice for any business !!

Review everything City and freeze or reduce prices for mid week games and next season ....build some goodwill cos its in increasingly short supply.

The best kind of help is self help !!

This is our HS2.
Totally unnecessary - rather they'd wrapped and updated the ground as a whole. Too late now.

On last night - never sat in the middle of a more unknowledgeable, unpartisan to City crowd. I've championed the new and needed "support" but last night was as if they'd herded shoppers from the Trafford Centre in, who'd never watched football, never-mind us. Horrible.

What was it like outside with the concert on?

Letting off steam about HS2....see what I mean aboot nutters.

The club are unlikely to be rail roaded in to an express decision but this is the right platform to signal your concerns.

Just the ticket but guard against anyone arriving early !!

We’ve priced out huge numbers of long term fans who would attend games like last night or the fa cup. Those fans are now picking and choosing, which games they can attend.

We’re now relying basically on glory hunters and corporates to fill our stadium. Turns out they only really attend the big games against the likes of Madrid.

We need our core fan base, it’s a shame the club don’t realise that. The expanded stand would have been empty last night

I’m not sure who the core fans base are. There’s too many matches so many of the “regulars” go to the weekend home games and semi finals and finals. Tickets were going for peanuts for last night. If the people desribed on here (I’m talking Ciry fans) as tourists, glory hunters, foreigners etc don’t buy the seats the ground would be half empty

I’d argue our core fan base is the fans who turn up no matter what league we are in or how well we doing. Also local fans. Up until recently these two have always made up the majority of our match going fan base.

I don’t agree with your other points. A lot of long standing fans aren’t going to weekend games or finals because they’ve been priced out or they aren’t season ticket holder anymore. The prices for league match tickets are ridiculous.

The prices for last night werent peanuts, they’ve increased on last year and with the amount of games people are now picking and choosing.

Just make it affordable for everyone then long standing fans and tourists can go and the ground would be more full.

The thing is what would the attendance be without the clueless day trippers ? Less than 40k ?

The new stand was the right idea but it’s being built at a time when there is complete disengagement by City with supporters.

Everything from ticket pricing, lack of engagement, ticket distribution for away games, treating City Matters with contempt etc has been a complete fuck up - with the result being matchday atmosphere being shit and ticket demand dropping significantly from the time the new stand got the greenlight.

The complete silence from City to supporters on pretty much everything gets on my tits. Any other club that had as many away fans on the home end as last night would be having an investigation at 9am today - our mob are probably having a meeting about why there weren’t more Dutch fans filling the empty seats.

A year away from its opening and no plan or idea who might be sitting in this new stand when it opens - the likelyhood is there will be lots of empty seats at many games.

I think it would have. Either that or more gaps in other areas. I was sat in the family stand last night but my ST for PL games is in SSL 3. It looked half empty.
