I'm in 232 and want to join in from the other end of the stadium, however I hear 114/115 singing one song, Kippax Corner Singing another, SS3 Singing another, 117/118 singing another.
It just sounds like a big mess of noise, and whilst many try to join in it's completely impossible at times.
This is why relocating singers to the North Stand is an absolute must
There's the rub! There's something about the acoustics of the stadium. It's weird. I believe you, because in SS Level 2, not infrequently, I've noticed that either we're singing a different song to the corner over in the East Stand, Level 1, or two beats ahead/behind them. As for SS Level 1, I can barely hear them at all.
Mind you, we're louder than the Bombonera, louder than the Marecana, louder than the San Siro, louder than the Kop and Stretford End combined once we get going… (the problem is to get us going…)
By the way, all singers will
not relocate to the north. That's a dead certainty. I'd think about it, but not sure, at all. The important thing is to
have a critical mass of singers in the north, properly and clearly grouped together (and not either bloody side of a hospitality section or, worse, a visiting supporters section). We've seen that a mere 2000 fans at away games can make a hell of a racket, and be clearly audible over the home crowd. Not just the Etihad. Everywhere. It's a question of unity.
They will be clearly audible at our end, and we'll be clearly audible at theirs. And who knows, the lower corner of the East Stand will be able to hear both loud and clear, and maybe we'll be singing from the same hymn sheet…
By the way I sometimes feel like a bit of a berk singing away at my age as if I believed I was still fourteen and on the Kippax. But I've always done it, and will till I drop. So I'll carry on being a bit of a berk.
