Well, what was all that about? Almost managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory there.
We made that game far tougher than it needed to be, as if we thought we could just play at a leisurely pace and Norwich would roll over and give us the win.
Well played to Nico, saved us from embarrassment a few times today. Joe had a keeper's nightmare with the dropped ball, however I'm not gonna be over-critical of this as his feet slid backwards on the turf at the moment he was making the catch. On the plus side, the save he made afterwards was world class - his reaction time to change direction after the deflection looked almost impossible, so it doesn't look like it's affected his confidence or ability at all.
Not sure if they're given specific 1st and 2nd choice penalty taker roles before each game, as would have presumed Yaya would have taken the second penalty as well if he was still on the pitch. If it was open to anyone to take that second penalty then yep, Sterling had every right to step up. Perhaps Kolarov got a bit of karma there.
Really happy with the win, though it felt a bit like we were shooting ourselves in the foot today. I hope the players start creating a bit more space for each other as I don't get this idea of two players tapping the ball no more 2 yards horizontally to each other 4 or five times, without making a yard of ground up-field. All it seems to do is give their defenders more time to get organised.
