Oasis reunion

Even if they’re telling the truth and they were unaware, that’s unforgivable as well. They should have made it their business to know the important details. I can understand them not knowing or not caring about the minor stuff but surge pricing that rips off their fans is pretty fundamental. Still want a ticket though but not paying over the odds.

It's very hard to see a version of this where they're not, one way or another, treating their fans with contempt.

Ironically, social media allows people to feel more 'connected' to artists at a time where everything else points, more blatantly than ever, to the simple fact that being a 'fan' means nothing more than being a specific type of consumer who can be milked to the max.

I can't believe there is an investigation.

Really?

Because the snowflake society thought they was entitled to a ticket was they and they didn't get one?

Hasn't it always been the case ringing up for tickets? First come first served. It's not like it was front row seats at the Darby and Joan club, this is big time.

But an investigation? Give over.
I dont think there should be an investigation for the surge pricing situation, you pays your money you take your choice, its entertainment its not a necessity, what i do believe there should be an investigation into is the monopoly that that ticketmaster holds over these kinds of things and how they have proven repeatedly that they are just not up to handling it.

The investigation is definitely required, even if the outcome is it’s legal but morally corrupt it will push new regulations that are clearly required.
How many people knew tickets would be trebled…..none
People were in a queue for hours and not at any point made aware that this would happen.
Multiple messages were displayed saying not to worry tickets were still available during the wait and no price changes mentioned.

I believe the investigation is into whether customers were made aware up front that surge pricing may be applied particularly as most people didn’t even know it existed outside of the travel industry. Every ticket for an entertainment event that I have ever bought has had a face value written on it and it never crossed my mind that the original seller could sell it for anything other than that price (plus some sort of spurious handling/service charge). Maybe I was naive but I bet I wasn’t the only one.

When you’ve queued for hours for a commodity priced at £150, you don’t expect to be charged tout prices especially when they went to a lot of trouble warning people not to buy off touts. Seems they just wanted to corner the tout market.

Can you not read? The investigation is into dynamic pricing

I've been aware of dynamic pricing in the past but that's probably because I attend lots of gigs and I wouldn't expect everyone going for Oasis tickets to know about it. In the past Ticketmaster have had it on their website for certain gigs that dynamic pricing is in place but I'm not sure they put that statement on for the Oasis gigs as once I got knocked back in the presale ballot, I didn't try to get tickets.

There should be because the tickets were supposed to be £150, if you got into the queue you should expect to pay £150 and not £350.

Imagine if you went into Tesco and they bumped the prices by 100% just as you got to the till? I suppose it happens with the airlines but prices don't double.

Tell me you don't know what they are investigating, without telling me you don't know what they are investigating.

On what planet do you think it is normal to queue for hours, seeing the advertised prices days before and then they can more than double towards the end and still be "face value" Had they advertised this nonsense from the start they might have saved themselves the embarrassment of how they handled the ticket sales, as not as many would have queued for £355 tickets to stand in a field. They need an internal investigation as to why in this day and age platforms cannot handle mass volume. They then need to be looked at for the price surges. You can't call them in demand tickets to justify the price, every single ticket was in demand. Another set of wankers capitalising when nobody has a pot to piss in. Sound

At least the airlines/train companies/hotels have the decency to tell you "x amount of seats/rooms available at this price" before they increase it.

Ticketmaster didn't issue any warning because demand would have fallen off a cliff at that point and then the price would have come back down if it was algorithm based.

This wasn't "dynamic pricing" in the true sense; it was a conscious decision from the start to sell xx% of tickets at £148 and the rest at £355. Their own statement makes that pretty clear.
