Offical Election thread

Why should everyone pay the same tax? That is anything but fair.
Take for example, someone who is the son of a very wealthy millionaire and as a result can live a luxurious lifestyle without ever having to work hard.
Then picture someone who wakes up at 4am every morning and works long hours for very little pay. Why should they pay the same tax?

Tax rich people more heavily. Tax poor people less.

People should be taxed on earnings but there should only be one percentage rate.

No, tax the rich heavily.
Give the money to the single mothers raising families who need it.

My favourite election story of the day. Bugger me, we're archaic.

1954: If you think David Cameron is frustrated at finding himself without a majority, spare a thought for poor Great Yarmouth council candidate Bob Peck. Tied on 1,034 votes with Labour opponent Charlie Marsden, he was offered a pack of cards by the returning officer and told the candidate who drew the highest number would win. Mr Peck picked a three while his rival drew a lucky seven to claim the seat. Barmy? Maybe, but it's all within the rules.

Yh i seen that strange rule but never mind they should of had a fight to the death instead.

Genuine question... how old are you? I ask as you sound extremely idealistic & very naive.

You raise taxes for the rich they move their money to where they pay less or no tax. Keep it at lower rates and they keep the money here and we all benefit from better revenues.
Sad but true fact. Lets face it. Wouldn't you try to protect your own money as you do now.
I'm not saying that tax should all be the same. Thats if your post was aimed at my comment. Just that by the definition of fair VAT is actually fair.

I'll say I'm below 18. But I do politics at school and have a big interest in it.

In fact, I go to a Jewish school as I'm Jewish and I was one of the only people who actively spoke out against Israel's actions in Gaza. I'm not afraid to voice my opinions. I know they seem idealistic but after what Tories did to my parents and grandparents, especially Thatcher I don't want them in power.
