Official "Changes To Seasoncards" Thread

I'm not bothering getting the platinum, just getting a gold card.
I've got about 6000 points and haven't missed a game that I wanted to attend since the Old Trafford game where we got a goal disallowed late on for handball, and that includes every derby since, blackpool and chelsea away and cup semi + final.
I just don't see getting taken over by enough people to miss out on games becuase they get double points for a season. Even of they went to every game (obviously not everyone can) and I didn;t go to any cup or away games (I will be) then that is only an extra 400 hundred or so points - won't make too much difference.

I went to a couple of aways last season, took my lad who has a season ticket. I remember getting tickets for Newcastle away and he didn't qualify in his own right for tickets off loyalty points when I got the tickets but they processed it as the 3 adults going all qualified. Again with the fa cup final some leniency was shown by the club holding back a certain number of tickets whereby if the adult qualified they could also get a junior ticket regardless of points.

Will this still happen next season or will the junior have to qualify in their own right?

The thing is I suspect most Will go for platinum membership which means a junior on platinum membership wont really gain in the pecking order yet if you can get a junior a ticket with a qualifying adult is there much point on getting a junior a platinum membership?

£50 is quite a price jump on a junior ticket.

Very good question, so far unanswered by the club. I have the same dilemma with my two kids. Definitely going platinum myself, undecided what to do for them.

I am thinking gold membership and joining the cup schemes well at least the domestic cup schemes as they have priority on final tickets regardless of points. If I find an answer to the above question via the club I will be sure to post it.

pay much more money to stay in the same place in the pecking order?

or pay more but not quite so much? (the advertised 6% rate which anyway is a lie for the East stand that used to be the North Stand where the increase is much much higher @ 50% just for go-nowhere fast ''Gold'')

they've got you by the short and curlies (otherwise known as loyalty points) or they think they have at least...

I'm beginning to think I can't really be arsed with buying a particular pseudo valuable colour of credit card, I mean season ticket, with the choice between a not very well hidden additional cost increase or the ever-lessening likelihood of big game tickets on top of the already stiff 50% increase on last season plus of course the expensive food/ drink/ programs/ car parking/ travel etc etc etc

If they'd just let me renew like normal for a reasonable inflationary increase (especially given the recession) I'd have done it without too much thought

Rubbish and incorrect analogy.

gold is same level of points for league games as last year, Platinum is double that level of points for £50 extra.
Yes, but if every fucker who actually goes to away's get's the Platinum (which nearly all of them will) then you are not getting double are you because everyone else is getting the same!! 10 credits or 20 credits, it's still a Mars bar!

no, you are getting double but everybody else is getting double.

if there's a 2 for 1 in Tesco and you buy it then you are buying 2, not 1. If everyone around you buys that offer they also get 2, not 1.

Just because everybody did the same thing doesn't mean you didn't get more than you would have done without the offer.
Your wrong. Points are not physical items. Say there was a nuclear war tomorrow and only England survived. If the government then said £1 is now worth £2, are you now twice as rich? No, because everyone has twice as much money, and the price of everything is twice as much, so in real terms you are exactly the same as you were beforehand!

NO. ffs.

you still have more points whether or not you are in the same ranking as before.

you were the one using mars bars as an example!

No. I was the one using "credits" to buy Mars Bars as an example. It's basic economics, if you don't understand it by now I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you.

stop being a condescending toad.

Loyalty points for gold-same as last season.
Loyalty points for platinum-double gold, so double from last season, MORE.

wake me up when you grasp that fact, it's not halved, it's doubled.

give me strength.

Just as well that city are only doing this to encourage "younger hungry loyal" fans eh ?

Yes because the older, apathetic fans who don't bother with the away's anymore will get the Gold, so the "younger hungry loyal" fans who want to go to every away game will start to catch them up. This means Gary 1970s can't just sit on his arse, not go to any away games and have his cup final ticket delivered by carrier pigeon the day they come out.

-- Fri May 20, 2011 12:05 am --

Fuck me mate, I don't mean to be condescending but if you don't understand my point by now you either never will or you don't want to, so let's just leave it there

You're comedy gold, what if Gary 1970's goes platinum ? He might have £50 spare. I'm curious how old you are.....

If Gary 1970's goes Platinum then doesn't go to any away's or cup games then he's not got anything for his £50 has he? The only way the £50 is worth spending is if you plan on going to away / cup games. If you plan on going to only home league games, you might as well just get Gold. This is why the new system benefits people who go to aways now which I think is a good thing

Oh I think he does, and he probably will go to some anyway. Gary 1970's probably hasn't had a pay rise this year, probably has a mortgage to service, maybe kids to pay for at the home games, so don't say Gary 1970's is apathetic, though you'd not understand that I expect.

However ignoring all that as its quite irrelevant, because City are doing this just for the "young hungry loyal" fan obviously, even though they get zero money from selling away tickets. So what other incentive is there ? Oh yes the £50 extra they take for giving you "points", that probably won't count for anything once corporate (rich) take all the tickets in 2, 3 or 4 years time. I hope you'll be rich by then....

If you're going to get into a slanging match at least get the facts right.

Away games This Season (e.g. Everton)
"There will be 20 loyalty points awarded for attending this fixture."

Next Season:
GOLD - Loyalty awarded for attending Away league games 10 (Half of this season, LESS)
PLATINUM - Barclays Premier League away game 20 (Same as this season)

same renewal points.

I'm thinking (hoping more like) of getting the Value gold card, however I've never had a season card before due to being well...poor, and so need a little advise.

Do the Value gold cards go on sale from the 1st to general public such as myself, or is that for card holders to renew?

Value gold will only be available to existing season card holders according to the club.

Ahhh well, will just have to play it by ear and see how the income is going, hopefully my student finance and/or loan will be approved by the time I go to buy one *fingers crossed*
