... do you really want a player at city who is willing to stay at a club just to screw up their plans cos it doesnt suit him. Now I know we all dont think we are big enough to be turning players down yet but if he is willing to do that to barca what do you think hed be prepared to do to us.
If I had written those words, I would be called a Rag, but the poster has a very good point. Etoo would have been a highly disruptive influence. Without him, we can now strengthen our defence and get the best out of those who really want to play for City rather than simply opportunists looking to grab silly money.

Goal.com have quoted agents and players in the past in articles (not sure if they just quote other newspaper articles or not) usually the people quoted deny making the statements within a few hours.

they aren't that reputable

I guess we will know soon enough. But if this continues City should release a statement saying "Barca came to us trying to sell Eto'o we didnt want him" end of. I wonder what would happen then?

delete this thread, it makes us look even more tits!

Will some of you grow up FFS, that's how the world goes some you win some you lose, it's quite obvious that some people on here do not have much experience of life, a more mature attitude and dare I dare world savy one would be much better than all this juvenile ranting and worrying about what other people will think or say

News Of The World look like real cocks ....... their headline was Eto has signed ......

To be fair I'm still clinging to Spursmad saying that he'd actually signed. Still hope that this is just posturing over details i.e. the loyalty bonus.

Even SSN don't use Goal.com as a source of info.

ffs city...this makes the Tevez deal crucial to our reputation...lets hope that one doesn't go tits up.

If Barca don't sell Eto'o to us then they can't get Villa. Real Madrid have apparently dropped out of the running for Villa, focusing on Benzema, and if they don't get him, then Alonso, then their big spending is apparently done for the summer.

This leaves Villa available. Forget Valencia's 'we won't sell' line, it's well known that they have to. I know he's said he won't leave Spain but it could come down to us being the only bidder and Valencia telling him that he has to leave for the good of the club.

You miss the crucial points of the players can't be forced to sign for anyone.

Appreciate that but I think if Villa was told that Valencia needed to sell him he would make the sacrifice for them.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

This looks to me like the Agent trying to push something... "If there is not a 180 degree turnaround..".. It doesn't mention Eto'o doing the turnaround... I think it refers to the 'loyalty' money that Barca dont want to pay...

Add to this the rumours we want him to sign in the next few days, i think its his Agent trying to scare Barca into paying any money owed...

I still think its on...

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

sorry mancity7 had already posted before i saw yours so wasnt knicking what you had said just agreeing.

Lionheart i qualified what i said by saying if that report was true which i dont believe it is. Im under no illussions that players arent coming here for the love of the club or to spill their blood for the cause, to the majority of players football is a job and they will work wherever pays them the most with the added caveate of a bit of success. However because of the fact of it being a job i would expect a bit of professionalism from players this seems to be lacking IF that report is true!

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Don't get me wrong i'm worried, but if it all goes tits up we have other options. the club are trying so hard to get these big names in so we can compete on a higher level, its not easy dealing with these slimy agents and they tell you one thing to your face and another behind your back.

get behind the club, they will do right by us

First one ie Kaka showed we were serious and was good for our profile, this one, if it fails is damaging.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

lol yeah ill have that. To be honest there is so many conflicting reports its tough to see the wood for the trees at the mo!

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

The 180 degree turnaround imo relates to the situation between Barca and Eto'o. There isn't any other quote that relates that statement to City. The rest is just how Goal.com have interpreted it.

I'm inclined to believe he's more than happy with our offer but this press conference is in fact a deadline for Eto'o and Barca to come to some sort of agreement relating to the loyalty bonus.
