Don't get me wrong i'm worried, but if it all goes tits up we have other options. the club are trying so hard to get these big names in so we can compete on a higher level, its not easy dealing with these slimy agents and they tell you one thing to your face and another behind your back.

get behind the club, they will do right by us

First one ie Kaka showed we were serious and was good for our profile, this one, if it fails is damaging.

clubs get knocked back by players all the time. we just need to get on with it

Bit different this one i think. So the next superstar we go for if this fails, just say Messi (not gonna happen but similar stature of player). will he not think well kaka and eto'o wouldn't go as they saw it as a step down so why would i go?

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

The eto'o sargs is good actually and I will tell you why.

All this talk about eto'o signing for city and the press conference tomorrow which will probably be a load of shit. In my view be good as all the spot light has gone of the tevez move which I think then means we can get this deal done and all the press would of been to busy talking shit about eto'o .

Then once we get tevez if we don't get eto'o the papers can't really say the big superstars don't want to join because we would of got tevez.

This is just my view of things but I do believe eto'o will come but I think he may wait to see who we get.

The 180 degree turnaround imo relates to the situation between Barca and Eto'o. There isn't any other quote that relates that statement to City. The rest is just how Goal.com have interpreted it.

I'm inclined to believe he's more than happy with our offer but this press conference is in fact a deadline for Eto'o and Barca to come to some sort of agreement relating to the loyalty bonus.

Agree with this. It's annoying that the quote is not put in context - a 180 degree turnaround in eto'o thinking about where he wants to play or a turnaround in Barcelona's behaviour with the loyalty bonus? I think our hopes depend on Barca stumping up.

why dont we split the bonus to get the deal through?

Eto'o press conference on Wednesday

The latest info. is saying that he will now stay at Barcelona. If Eto'o does not sign I think we are made to look stupid again. I thought we were trying to cultivate a good relationship with Barcelona and I therefore wonder why they have proclaimed publicly in the last few days about our 'stratospheric' offer knowing full well that Eto'o will announce he is staying with them in his press conference on Wednesday. I really hope he signs but I have a bad feeling that we will be made to look like fools having offered him those ridiculous wages.

hmmm....sounds like a plan!

Re: Eto'o press conference on Wednesday

Its not us being shafted its Barca, They want to sell him to fund the deal for Villa. He wants a loyalty bung (sorry bonus). The balls is in their court.
This will NOT make us look fools if it doesnt go through, remember Robinho was all set to sign for the Rags as a makeweight in the Tranny deal when he refused to be party to it.

Dont get so sensitive, it happens all the time in football

Re: Eto'o press conference on Wednesday

think Tevez would be a better signing.3 years younger.Plus we seem to have about 5 strikers to pick from.

Re: Eto'o press conference on Wednesday

Why would we be made to look stupid? If he doesn't sign it will be either because he wants to be petty and mess up Barca's plans until his contract runs down, or we are not prepared to break the bank for him.

Even if he stays, a summer where we have signed Barry and Tevez and RSC and look to be getting at least one more in Lescott, looks like a pretty good summer to me. Top four will not be laughing at us next season, that's for sure.

I can only see one outcome... Eto'o to us!!

If he stays Barca get nothing, the fans will know this and will not be best pleased, knowing they will receive nada next year.

The one thing fans hate most is there best players leaving on a free.
