Official - City end interest in Eto'o [merged]

There are fifty days of the transfer window left...don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

True but it would be nice to get players in early so that they can go through a pre season with us.

Totally agree but we've signed up three so far and decided to drop interest in Eto'o and move on. That's a great start in my book.

Eto is a great player but ultimately I am guessing a great player who didn't really want to play for us but would have done so if no better offer came along.

Far better that we get players who (whether because of the money or not) really want to play for us. In the short term this may see us miss out on the "superstars" but ultimately City ending this saga with Eto may make us more respected by possible future signings.

well we wanted confirmation, I'm glad it's been put to sleep we have a decision either way.

As for plan b's, it depends what level people look at

there are the Aguero's, the Villa's and the Zlatan's of the world we have a slim chance of getting
or
Fabiano, Forlan, Higuain, Cuntelaar maybe more realistic chances of getting

I'd prefer him to Eto'o Tevez, Benzema and Zlatan together.

Can we suspend new registrations for a week to stop the influx of twats from other teams coming on here to laugh (not that their team will even have come close to signing someone like Eto'o...)

I hope we have someone decent lined up as a backup... Aguero or maybe someone young like Berg, otherwise it would look like Jo's loan was a little hasty as I'm still concerned Santa Cruz could get injured, leaving us short of a front man.

Then again the Boj looks like he's raring to go so maybe this is his year to blow our collective socks off (sadly lacking in maroon tops as they are).

we wanted him for the SA tour to make it worth our while and he is still pissing us about so we did the sensible thing
we still have at least 80mill burning a hole in our pockets so plenty more stuff to unfold yet...

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Not heartbroken, it would have been great to have someone of Eto'o's calibre. But, fair play to City they set a deadline and walked away. No point being messed around in a long drawn out saga. Only concern now is how our 'Plan B' will feel about being 2nd choice to Eto'o in the clubs thinking. Whilst it's good to have Santa Cruz as an attacking option he wouldn't get in a top 4 team, it's players of Eto's ilk that we need to be going for, we do need a world class 20 goal a season striker, let's hope our next target is of similar standard to Samuel.

Good news. It seems as though the deadline was actually real and we have fucked them off. 2 weeks of publicly playing silly buggers with us.

"Ooooo Sammy wont answer his phone..."

I know many will be disappointed with this but to be honest it is good news, I imagine someone else has become interested and it was going to drag on and on.

Well said.
Let's move on.

Well it was getting bloody ridiculous. To be honest I want us to conduct our transfer business away from the likes of Barca, Real Madrid and AC Milan. They will always play silly fucking buggers with everyone due to their politics of electing and nobody wanting to lose face. Rags and Chelsea can testify that entering into negotiations with this boys club will hit you hard across the face. They are a nightmare.

Lets get Tevez and Lescott sorted and get the squad gelled ahead of the season. I will be delighted if that completes our business.
