Official - City end interest in Eto'o [merged]

3 point's. Or is it 2 point's?

Since City announced they had pulled out of the Eto deal, neither Eto(more importantly) or his agent have issued a statement. Neither have Barca.

1.The normal procedure is. Said player and/or agent both deny the buying club pulled out first and it was them that turned the buying club down. For what ever reason. Agreed? We've seen it a million times before, not just at City.

2.The selling club also issue a statement as a rule saying either they didn't want to sell the player, he didn't want to go or they blame the buying club for the collapse of the transfer. Agreed?

3.This leads me to believe Eto and his agent still want the move to happen, hence keeping quiet and not bad mouthing City. The same with Barca. Barca 'need' this deal to be resurrected so they can buy Villa.

Perhap's City pulling out with force both Eto and Barca to come to a compromise? We shall see.

agreed with all of that except the very last bit....eto'o does want a move but he wont end up at city...there will be other clubs going for him now we are out the way......they could even get him for less money thn we were offering as the longer this goes on the more desperate both barca and the player will become. It wouldnt be a supprise to see him move on the last day of the transfer window......I just have a very strong feeling that he will end up at utd....fergie is no fool, he knows a bargain when he sees one and utd have the pulling power of the champs league. They also need another striker as they only have 3 front line men (rooney, berabtov and owen)....fergie will want 4

The fact we pulled out whilst Cookie was in Brazil (has the timing been confirmed?) indicates the poster has never heard of the electronic telephone...

;-)

Good post though, sound attitude Kitesurfer Gal imo. Thanks jrb.

Not that bothered if he wanted £250,000 a week.

Fuck him, concentrate on Tevez.

the point is that he is worth that amount of money (well in the football world anyway) cause he is that good and would make a huge difference....possibly the difference between top 4 and top 6-7

I still firmly believe something is going on, but any deal will only done before Wednesday. After that date, we can consider it closed.

If Eto'o signs for the rags, he'll have to accept a 50% wage cut, probably more as his wages at Utd would be before tax, City's would be after. Why do that when he can stay at Barca for another season & sign for whoever he likes in January? He can negotiate his own signing on fee next season. Signing for the rags now would cost Eto'o about £20 million.

Only strikes you could argue that are his level in the entire world right now are Torres and Villa in my opinion.

there is a quote from his agent however saying that it is not about the money but about the footballing project and about winning trophies....that suggest to me that he will certainly consider utd
