Why would we be made to look stupid? If he doesn't sign it will be either because he wants to be petty and mess up Barca's plans until his contract runs down, or we are not prepared to break the bank for him.

Even if he stays, a summer where we have signed Barry and Tevez and RSC and look to be getting at least one more in Lescott, looks like a pretty good summer to me. Top four will not be laughing at us next season, that's for sure.

We will look stupid with yet another 'superstar' turning down bully boys City who think they can buy who they want!

The latest info. is saying that he will now stay at Barcelona. If Eto'o does not sign I think we are made to look stupid again. I thought we were trying to cultivate a good relationship with Barcelona and I therefore wonder why they have proclaimed publicly in the last few days about our 'stratospheric' offer knowing full well that Eto'o will announce he is staying with them in his press conference on Wednesday. I really hope he signs but I have a bad feeling that we will be made to look like fools having offered him those ridiculous wages.

Jog on.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Right chaps..
calm down..
The squad we have at present will get us into the top 6 ...
We will find out about Eto'o and Tevez for sure this week .. with them on board.. maybe top 4 or 5
I'm hoping for a nice surprise though like the rest of you and am constantly checking for tit bits of info and what have you.. but the truth is .. there aint any real ITK's ..someone might get some good info off an agent in the trade but theres no way any1 person will know everything about every deal !! so we need to be patient and wait for transfers to be officially revealed..
Till then I will take great pleasure in laughing at these ITK'ers spinning you all lines left right and centre..

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

the only person making noises is eto,o agent we,ve said nothing barca have said nothing and eto,o has said nothing its obvoius that eto,o agent is trying to force a bigger signing on fee which he would collect 10% of this can easily be sorted out unless city think they are taking the piss and won,t go higher than where there at i can see city and barca will come to some sort of arangement but we could be in for long night of negotions

Sorry to ask, I must have missed this bit...

Where does it mention this loyalty bonus ??

Been quoted around that he has up to £13 million in loyalty bonus in his contract. So if he acts like he doesnt want to leave then Barca will have to pay him up. Not convinced this exists but it could be the reason why the deal has hit the skids

ok if no Eto'o we go back to plan A
David Villa!

Deary me it's like flogging a dead horse. This will not happen! The man himself has made it clear he ain't leaving Spain for any amount of money.

Eto'o is only considering it because of the money nothing else. And if he decides to stay put then I believe City do not have a back-up plan. This is more like a one-off deal much like Kaka was supposed to be.

spot on.......their's more chance of signing Ricky Villa!!!!!!!! and he's a twat..

Uwe mate, press the key with the @ on it, only without pressing the shift key and ' hey presto ' an apostrophe'!

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

If we dont get Eto'o then with Robinho, Tevez (hopefully), santa, bellamy etc I think we have more than enough options.....and should turn all attention to defence where two quality additions I believe are required at least!

can someone just round up whats happend today?

Everybody's getting wound up because of some little report that probably isn't true about his agent saying he's leaning towards staying.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

This seems to be the most accurate explanation of where things are up to, in the absence of any decent ITK info.

<a class="postlink" href="http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.elmundo.es%2Felmundodeporte%2F2009%2F06%2F29%2Ffutbol%2F1246282940.html&sl=es&tl=en&hl=en&ie=UTF-8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://translate.google.co.uk/translate ... n&ie=UTF-8</a>

In particular, this bit:
In any case, negotiations between Barcelona and Samuel Eto'o are still open and both sides could get back in touch in the next few hours to try to reach an agreement.
