Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

this morning according to the newspapers eto'o was a done deal. Now according to media outlets it's not. Clearly neither had a clue what was going on so we should not believe either the good or bad news until city say something - which up to know, more importantly than anything else, they haven't. Saying we want him when it sounds like he's coming and then saying we don't when it doesn't is, quite frankly, childish. Let's just enjoy what's happening and calm down. The bottom line is that, other than a select few, no one really knows what's happening so there's no point getting wound up.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

If and when City make an announcement then I will believe it is over. Until then I see an agent trying to up the ante for him and his client. This was always an audacious bid and there were never any guarantees. Get a grip ffs.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

If this continues, we should pull the plug and revise our transfer policies. We don't need dickhead Galacticos to become a genuine title contenders and we certainly don't need their bullshit or the bullshit of their agents or the bullshit of their clubs.
If we do negotiate for any of these so called "marquee" players in the future, we need to impose a condition that there is a news blackout until the deal is sealed and walk away at the first sign that someone is manipulating the media to get more money.

lol. Looks like there are just a few of us who are decidely chilled about this. It is blatently a land grab on either party for that signing on bonus. Eto'o and his agent cannot say anything to infer that it's his choice to leave. The press conference tomorrow will highlight that. And it actually leaves us in a pretty good position to stay on the outside here because something has to give and the more time that passes the further the relationship between Barca and Eto'o sours.

I'm chilled, sitting in my garden with the laptop and wimbledon on through the window. I might even have a beer in abit.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

It's fair to say that if he comes, it won't be for footballing reasons. It's only for money and I'm sure there's others that feel the same. He can go fuck himself with that 'stratospheric' schlong of his!!

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

i suppose the only thing left is that eto'o himself hasnt said anything and if he knows city want him and barca dont then there could be a 180 degree turn around :P

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

is it a good sign or not that all our decent itk's have gone to ground on this one?

not one comment from any of them, this can't be coincidence however i can't decide personally the merits of their silence.

have they been "told" to stay quiet because it is at such a precarious position?

It's all we really can offer though. If Inter came and offered the same as us, he would be there straight away.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

I like the way you all assume he was being racist.

I've been told I look like a monkey before and I'm as white as a sheet.

Could have been an innocent though probably ill-advised comment.

Other teams who try sign players hardly ever get rejected

Eh? It happens all the time.

I dont seem to recall any player rejecting a team when the transfer fee has been agreed. Thing is though what im getting at, Kaka rejected us because of some protestors and now seeming like Eto'o is going to reject us because he wants revenge on Barca.
how do you no the fee has been agreed? its all just speculation at the moment, your choosing to believe only certain things, city haven't said anything on eto'o yet, until they do good or bad we'll all just have to wait and see, my advice enjoy it all, a spud mate summed it up earlier, . . . . least were linked with these guys, its more fun bein a city fan in this window than any other fan, remember that.

At last the voice of sanity! I am so glad that there are still some people left on here who know how the world works

I know im bias but why would anyone choose Inter over us at the moment. A player here could build the team and be a hero for playing a part in the clubs first period of sustained success.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

WILLIAM HILL make Samuel Eto'o 7/1 to be Premiership top scorere this season and 12/1 to win the PFA Player of the Year award if he comes to Manchester City before the start of the season. 'City have been backed down to 9/4 with us to finish in the top four, and they need to be signing players of Eto'o's quality if they are to have a chance of achieving that' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
(Bets void if Eto’o doesn’t sign for Man City before start of 09/10 season.)
**Premier League Top Scorer 7/1; PFA Player of Season 12/1
**Total goals during season
Over 16.5 5/6
Under 16.5 5/6
**Match Bets (Opposing players must be at their current clubs on 1st day of 09/10 season). Draw No Bet.
Rooney v Eto’o
5/6 5/6
Drogba v Eto’o
4/6 11/10
Torres v Eto’o
4/7 5/4

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

You cant say Eto'o wont be a great signing for City, he would be a massive coup for us regardless of his reasons for coming he would raise the clubs profile around the world in a similar way to Robinho.

The difference is Eto'o would be the 20-30 goal a season striker we currently dont have. Tevez, Robinho and Bellamy are 10-15 goal a season strikers.

Santa if fit would not 15-20 but Eto'o is a different level to him.

If Eto'o signs its fantastic and he is a world class but if he doesnt its a shame and he is still world class regardless.

Did anybody ever think he was coming for footballing reasons. In reality does anybody really go anywhere for footballing reasons...?
