I agree, all this international media handbags spells transfer time. I think its a question of each party trying to save face-

Barca- city offered so much money, we can't get in the way of that

Eto'o- I'll stay if i'm wanted, I'll go if not

Everybody is covering their asses.

John O'Shea isn't! Sorry.

Samuel Eto'o's agent has paved the way for the striker's move to Manchester City after hitting out at Barcelona's handling of the summer transfer wrangle.
Josep Maria Mesalles, the Cameroon star's representative, today said Eto'o was happy to stay at the Nou Camp but would not stand in the way if the European champions wanted to cash in.

Reading between the lines im now almost certain that the deal is done.

And that this is just a PR stunt to squeeze some money out of Barca, which he is well within his right to do.
sounds about right to me

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

10.45 Lyon manager Claude Puel has confirmed that the club have not received any offers for Karim Benzema although he refused to rule out a sale if a big bid came in.

Plan B anyone?

this is exactly what people said when kaka stated; "if the club want to sell me, i'll go."
so i'm trying not to get my hopes up. but my god what a signing it'd be.

I get the impression our end is done. We have no need to wade in here. Just a shame they are airing their dirty laundry in public.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Like I said this morning - I think the bit that is pissing us all off is the silence from the club - If we haven't made a bid, then surely they would say so - If we have and it's been rejected by Barca or Eto'o in the first instance, then surely they would say so - which can only mean we have made a bid and it's been accepted by both parties.

But either there are no issues at all or if there are, then we must feel they are not too big to get them out of the way. And if they are too big then surely we would say so - unless this is anaother Kaka fiasco in the making and we will be made to look mugs again.

But let's understand one thing Cook and co know what the whole world is saying, so surely it's getting a little late in the day now to say we've cocked up again - I think that this deal is still very doable, because if it goes wrong I can see Cook getting his balls chopped off as well as his hands.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Best possible result for us. The comments of the agent- apparent finger-pointing, accusations of disrespect, club undervaluing a major star, desultory contract offer- all augur the move.

This might yet have a short while to run, but all signs point to a brilliant coup from City.
