Re: We are just a bit better

Liverpool drew a lot of games against the so-called 'lesser teams' last season and look where they finished.

Let's judge our season on where we end up, and not the last three games. There's a hell of a lot of football left to be played.

Because he's really warranted his place this season?

he has'nt been given a chance, not a proper one in his own postition.

he's in my starting XI without question, without him our midfield is too static.

But i don't think we have any "must starters"... we can play 2 DM, especially today with; Petrov/Adebayor/Bellamy/Tevez all starting.

Tevez runs around when he doesn't need to, if he madde intelligent runs then Given's distribution would make sense, Adebayor would have an outlet and we'd create space to create between defences.

I'd give Ireland his chance again next game, but he should have played better this season; whether it be in a 442 or 451 style formation.

Exactly.

4-3-3...

It really is as simple as that.

To play a 4-4-2 with the two central midfields both being "defensive" midfielders is a joke.

That's the area where we really lacked today (apart from the defense of course), no driving force whatsoever in midfield, and certainly no creativity.

You can't play two defensive midfielders in two central midfield roles in a 4-4-2, neither of them drove forward with any purpose and as a result the two up top were always isolated.

The thing that really worried me though, was that even though we had two defensive midfielders playing in two central midfield roles... we were picked apart time and time again directly through the middle - the midfield just appeared non-exsistent.

It was a shambles of a performance today; no coherance, understanding, creativity - very poor. Especially considering we fluked a 2 goal lead, and then surrendered it in such a pathetic fashion.

And for Christ's sake, enough of the unimaginative route 1 Bolton-esque football when we run out of ideas.

I can't be arsed reading the last 17 pages of knee jerk rxns, so here's mine:

I don't think we should have sold Dunne

The last two years were rough and he was still adjusting just like everyone else, but I was starting to think that this would be the year he finally returned to his old self with someone like Toure next to him. Before Dunne left this season, three clean sheets on the trot me thinks, he leaves and we are shifting in goals and we keep saying give them time to gel. He's gone off to Villa and scored two goals already, yes they also lost, but I think selling him was the biggest mistake. In a world cup year, Ireland might not even make it yet.

Remember, it's a knee jerk rxn

It's a fair point that you make but don't forget Liverpool did the double over United and Chelsea last season.

So Arsenal are poo then too????????

Arsenal played away!!!! at west ham who are at this moment fighting for their life's and west ham didn't just play 3 games in 6 days so no Arsenal are very good, west ham got lucky.

No comparison with Arsenal as they are playing in the CL.!!! A good away point for them. Two points lost today for us, not good enough we're not even in the Uefa cup, so no excuses Fulham were the better side IMO.
Stevie should start at home and I can't understand why he's not starting.

Sorry the performance up front today was fantastic, Bellamy, Petrov, Tevez and Adebayor was the best forward line on view over the weekend. 2 def mid-fielders? Barry pulled the strings well, at the back however we were woeful, Given, , Barry and De Jong played well
our back four were bloody awful, a specialist defensive coach is whats required, and have felt so for some time.

Quarter way through season granted, Dunne was error strewn last year, ok but he and his DF partner look top class this year at Villa.

Fulham are no mugs, to put things in perspective Hodgson looks a much better (experienced) manager, considering the resources he has.

Can't believe some of the shit some dickheads on ere are spouting...we've had our best start for years, lost 1 out of 11, unbeaten at home... and after 1...just 1.. below par performance, the negative nobheads are at it.
Its clueless impatient arseholes like these, (and the one's who apparently booed 2day, which I didn't hear) who will forever be a thorn in our clubs side..
EVERY top 4 team has days like this, and it will always happen, so shut your fuckin whining traps and leave us true fans to SUPPORT our team...

I agree with you and it's not knee jerk he went for peanuts really.!!
Having said that we got Lescott and I think the high price tag may be hanging over him, he wasn't worth what we paid, still think it's to early to judge his partnership with Toure we'll have a better idea by xmas!!
