Official Rangers v City Thread

We are going to get fucking slatted in the press if we lose especially if the team beating us only pay a fraction of the fees we have paid for our players, listening to Burley he couldn't contain his delight enough that Rangers had beaten the multi millionaires. Every game next season we play will be like a cup tie and unless everyone of our players perform at the highest level we will have the piss taken out of us remorselessly. Time for players to improve just isn't there, we need that team to be firing on all cylinders from the first whistle to the last and no passengers. Hope to god we put in a decent performance and result against Celtic.

mate we have had the piss took out of us for years so it will be nowt new

Do you really care what a numpty like Burley thinks? The media slags us off all the time like i'm bothered about them taking the piss out of us for losing to Celtic or Rangers.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Etuhu isn't good enough for the Premiership and starting him instead of Weiss is a crime against humanity. Unbelievable.

I liked Ade tonite. His presence and ability to keep posession up front will be crucial.

Atrocious defending. Richards was just awful. Toure is not an organizer and needs time of course to gel. Zidunne should just leave. We thank him for what he has done, but sentimentality will cost us dearly, so better stop the partnership with our club now. Two good organizers who knows how to position themselves correctly is absolutely necessary. They must also be great in the air. TBH should of course leave, on a free if necessary. And Bridge needs to step up. Some competition for him might be necessary.

It's great to see the BM drama Queen Club are back in buisiness!

A sense of perspective is needed, it's Pre Season friendly, nothing to play for, it's about fitness and testing players out, the results are meaningless, think about it as engineering, it's about getting it right before the big launch day

Dunne is nowhere good enough and needs replaced.Lescott would be a big improvement so buy him now.Nedum should be there before Dunne.Weiss is going to be a great player and has the ability to play in the 1st 11 this season, this guy could win games so I hope he makes the bench at least.
Our defence needs urgent attention,so get that cheque book opened again.............

Overall performance was good I think. The reason we conceded so many was that defenders seemed a bit lazy. Whether that's their poor performances (Dunne was pretty bad) or them keeping themselves from harm, we'll see.

I liked De Jong today I have to say, though he sort of gave away the first goal, his tackling and passing was good in my opinion. Better than last season.

Adebayor should've scored but for the good tackle from the gers player the ref didn't see somehow...

Petrov was good.

Robinho had two good chances and showed lots of creativity

Weiss was brilliant.

As for playing guys like TBH and Etuhu, I think it's more to show them to scouts in the hope of creating interest, rather than actually wanting to use them.

In all honesty I saw lots of good signs in the game today from the players who are a possibility for blackburn...(but for mr. Wayne 'I am anywhere but my position' Bridge and Dunne). It's preseason, look past the scoreline guys.

Cue the mockery, and it's well deserved.

Yeah, yeah, it's only preseason, but the notion of kicking off the season in 10 days is downright frightening after watching that display today. The defense was repeatedly overrun by the not-fleet-of-foot Rangers attack, the midfield lost the ball way too many times way too easily, and outside of the first goal, the attack seemed completely rusty and looked like everyone was reading from different scripts.

Just bringing in Lescott isn't going to help matters, as Touré and Bridge were every bit as shaky out there as the other struggling defenders. Five matches into the preseason, I'm searching desperately for any signs of improvement, and I have to say that I'm not coming up with anything.

The next nine days had better be remarkable ones at the training ground, because right now City are an absolute mess.
One second. Let me just get my megaphone.

IT'S A FUCKING FRIENDLY WHICH MEANS FUCK ALL. YOU CHAT UTTER SHIT.

That is all.

We are trying to buy him. Moyes just does not want to sell for the price we want to pay, which 22m is a superb price for Lescott who is worth about 15.

does anyone else think that mee and mcgivern have actually looked the most solid cb pairing all pre-season?
Could that be because they've actually played together before, unlike the others?

Aye that's obviously part of it. Wasn't trying to knock the others though, just pointing out how impressive those two had looked

Aah well is suppose it's only a pre-season match, but I stil hate losing!!

Negatives:
1. If we have so many new players who need time to bed in and gel, why the fuck are we playing players who probably wont even be on the bench come the start of the season?

2. Is Hughes trying to put Richards, Dunne, Etuhu and Tal Ben Haim in the shop window or is he seriously considering starting out at Blackburn with them in the side?

3. I'm fucked if I know what the formation was supposed to be half the time or if there was any structure to our pattern of play, I just hope & pray our manager has got his shit together for the start of the season, because apart from a few brief flashes I haven't seen anything of sustained substance that doesn't fill me with foreboding!

4. Is there anyone out there that can honestly say that they are confident with our defence or defensive-midfield showing?

5. There's no room for sentiment, Dunne is a squad player at best there isn't a club in the top six who he'd walk into their team. He organised fuck-all.

Positives:
1. With a bit more structure we will be a destructive force going forward.
2. Toure played way better in midfield and seemed to be our only leader even when our 'Club Captain' was on the pitch!
3. Weiss looks a real talent, so why was he only on for the last 15 minutes and Etuhu played for the entirety of the match?
