Official Summer 2014 Transfer Update Thread

Looks like Atletico are buying Jan Oblak off Benfica to replace Courtois, probably for 20mE. Fantastic signing, probably the best young goalkeeper in the world after Courtois, incredibly mature for his age and a real commanding prescence.

Benfica are getting well and truly raped this summer, so many of their first team XI are being bought for their release clauses. No idea what the team will look like next year at this rate

If the lad who played against our EDS for Benfica is anything to go by then I would think they are confident to let the keeper go although I do suspect that was a one off performance.

The lad who played against us is about their 5th choice youth keeper, it was honestly the first I'd ever heard of him. They have an absolute legion of youth players, Bruno Varela is probably the highest rated young keeper, but he's nowhere near Oblaks level. Some suggestion that they'll buy Fraser Forster off Celtic as Oblaks replacement, so you can easily foresee him being there a couple of years before being flogged for a huge profit to someone like Liverpool.

Pretty decent price considering Bayern got him for less than half of that

@BundesligaSpot: Mandzukic's move from #FCBayern to Atletico Madrid is approximately €22m. The Croatian signs a 5-year contract until 2019.

Lewandowski on a free and now double the take on the guy burgled from Wolfsburg. You boys have really got it sewn up ;-)

Luis Suarez latest:-

10/7/14

Luis Suarez expected to be officially presented at Camp Nou on 16/7/14.

This should, in theory, weaken Liverpool by a considerable margin.

That said, I believe the dippers win ratio was better during the time he had a significant absence last term. Their points ratio was, believe it or not, better when he was out of action.

Would be nice to get another marquee next season. The last big player we got was aguero and that was a while ago now. A top name/player is needed every 2/3 years to really improve a position and the squad.

If that is the case how come we came second 2 seasons ago and won the next season without so called marque signings?
