Official: The Atmosphere Was '****' tonight.

111 and nearby blocks seem to do their bit. For me the problem is the South Stand. Pathetic.

I'd like to see CCTV evidence used against South-standers. Anyone caught refusing to sing in this designated singing section should be forcibly evicted in the way that non-families were evicted from the family stand.

oh no you didnt, we all know (or have been told) that they are the loudest in the ground. its the pathetic kids in the family stand that cause all the problems

Look these games have always been like this. The real fault lies with greedy UEFA. If it was a proper knock out competition then there would be more atmosphere but there are simply too many games including this unnecessary 'bonus' game against small shit opposition with a handful of fans which was already won (as witnessed by the second string we put out). It is embarrassing I agree. I hate these games that have no atmosphere. This one felt like a pre-season friendly or exhibition match. Everyone was going through the motions both on and off the pitch.

I wish that City would do some sort of deal for ST holders on these early low attraction cup games so that the ground was fuller. That in itself would generate a better atmosphere. My seats were taken tonight so we sat in the Colin Bell. I don't know why anyone would want to sit in there. Miserable old Main Stand moaners. Didn't even stand up and celebrate when we scored round us ffs.

Big crowds will be self-perpetuating. It is in City's interest to encourage/ ensure bigger attendances in EVERY game no matter how inventive they need to be with pricing. Free fucking burgers for children are not the answer even if you could bloody get one. City probably earn more from smaller attendances from games like this than they would from radically changing things and charging less for more people. But that misses the point. Boosting the average attendance will pay bigger long term dividends in terms of future crowd size and ongoing revenues than a short term match by match profit approach. God knows we can afford it.

All this will be different when we are a successful side laden with trophies. In the meantime lets fill the stadium and generate the sort of excitement that will make people want to come to every game.

Make these games free to ST holders and then slowly put the price up as the competition progresses. Categorise them like league games.

Tonight was a category Z match and should have been priced accordingly.

You have history on BM Scotty. As I've stated, don't read my posts and it won't bother you.

I don't normally mind you, your posts are always good. But what do you seriously expect against a team like that. Was more like a pre season friendly than cup match. City have always been the same and it won't change anytime soon.

The main gripes:

Attendance - if you live locally and didn't turn up without valid reason, then you are probably not as big a city fan as you might think.

Adults leaving early - even though there was hardly any traffic, some people decided to leave with 2 minutes to go, instead of clapping the players off.
i live locally,i didn't turn up,i didn't need a reason and your right i'm not a big city fan afterall, well, not as big as i thought i was,i can feel my whole world caving in come to think of it

Couldn't give a **** about Redcafe. My original post was regarding the atmosphere and lack of it, and why we can't be arsed singing and getting behind an impressive team and display, regardless of the competition and/or opposition.
I repeat ( did you expect anything else )

In all honesty, Yes. I knew the crowd was going to be pretty low. It was similar to the crowds when we last played in this competition.(apart from Hamburg)

However, the support during that camapign was pretty decent for every home match, leading up to Hamburg. (good support, banter, etc)

I know some people aren't bothered(fair play), but as I've stated, I was pretty disappointed by our support tonight. If 50 Timi fans can out sing us, it's a pretty poor state of affairs, regardless of the circumstances.

I think there would have been more at City tonite if we hadn't of played Liverpool only three nights ago ...... the expense and inconvenience of that Monday night game would have meant that some people would have had to choose which game to attend ...... and this match was always likely to lose the battle.

This. This. This.

I was in 111 for the 1st half (wandered down to 104 for the 2nd half since it was obviously going to be one-way traffic and my eyesight isn't what it used to be - glasses on order) and I thought, as usual it was good considering the opposition etc... And yes I did join in with every song, even got a "come on City" going in 104...

But, as usual, the South Stand was indeed "pathetic". Every time I've been in there or near, it's been the same... Stood up, arms folded having a chat or slagging off one or more players... What gives with that lot?

Never mind chucking people out for smoking, get the stewards down there to start ejecting people for not singing in the "singing section".

"We are the South Stand"? Meh.

Where do these whingers come from ?
Flat game, 0-1 up from the first leg
Mickey mouse opposition
Live on TV
To any regular Blue and I've been watching 44 years now a win was nailed on by the second string.
Atmosphere...... Maine Road had its quite moments but think the whingers are brainwashed by Sky... every moment every match awash with passion.
Get real
The game tonight was an oppertunity just to admire a game we dominated, no need for the crowd to drive the team forward it was a work out thats all.
We pay to watch a match, the atmosphere nonsense is media generated it always depended on the passion around the the tie not a mickeymouse early EUFA round.
Guess all these people who think Sky invented football have a lot to learn and its not turned on by a switch.
Guess the fools will have to work out media manipulation on exploitation of the idiot mass's and the reconcile it to a simple football match against weak opposition.
All part of the fun in drawing in non football fans without knowledge or history in either the game or our contribution from the terrace to this wonderfull football club.

i'd feel like singing a lot more if 60% of the f*cking songs weren't about that red shit... seriously its embarrassing even the ones where people (a minority) weren't shouting munich at the end. we don't play the scum til november why should every f*cking match involve people singing about united it's pathetic makes it harder to look my rag mates in the eye when they call us 'bitters' half the time i don't know if some people hate united more than they love city f*cking pisses me off

anyone who calls me a rag is a c**t
