Official: The Atmosphere Was '****' tonight.

Dave, that's an extreme example compared to most, even then, ask the question; "would/did I/they make sure I/we attended Monday night?" if the answers 'yes' then honestly why weren't those same not people there last night?

There can be no excuses for not getting tickets now - Sputs didn't sell out, Liverpool was on the border and now a home game for £10/15 with 50 points and 23k turn up.

Some will have valuable excuses - no problem, a lot just "didn't fancy it" that's all that needs to be drawn from it.
And some will not have an excuse....its called choice

That's right. The OP holds his hands up and he knows what's coming. Can't even be arsed putting my tin hat on either. Give it to me with both barrels.

Fuck me! If 40 Timi fans can out sing us and sing almost non-stop for 90 minutes, while we just mumble the 'same songs' every now and again, we might as well give up. Seriously.

Come on lads, what's going on FFS? Even with adequate numbers(a couple of hundred) in both sections, we still couldn't be bothered. We can't use the teams performance as an excuse anymore, or the away support, even though they numbered about 60. (they still supported their team throughout the game)We just can't be bothered singing and getting behind the team.

TBH I'm pretty pissed off with the club. Won't go into detail, but there have been various meetings about improving the atmosphere in the ground, especially the South Stand. Various ideas and initiatives were put forward. It was a great talking shop. And? Nothing again.

I fully appreciate that the club has been focusing on the Family Stand and City Street, but you can't tell me that they didn't have the time or the finances to implement some of the ideas and suggestions for the South Stand.

As you can probably tell I'm pretty frustrated with tonights events off the pitch. I'm not asking for a stand rammed with thousands of fans, with non-stop noise and singing(actually I am ;-)), because it isn't going to happen at City. However, a couple of hundred in either stand (109/110 or the SS) must be able to get behind the lads on the pitch and create some noise and some atmosphere during the match. No?

Peace.

i wish someone had told me singing was compulsory. usually away support is better because most have lash all day.

This might have already been covered, and apologies if it has. But how much were tickets last night?!

My understanding was that it should have been £15 for adults until Wednesday, then £20 if you bought after that. I'm asking because my mate decided to come with me at the last minute (I paid £15 before Wednesday), and for the pleasure of showing his loyalty instead of watching it on TV, was charged £25. Was he raped? If so, who does he need to send dog shit in the post to? Thanks in advance.

I tell what will happen in the next cpl of years if we get successful, they will force you to join the direct debit scheme if you buy a season ticket, and i for 1 (as long as they keep prices low)think it will be a good thing it will stop a half empty eastlands in the future

What a load of shit.

If someone at City made that decision then they would be as big a **** as Glazer and mob at United.

That is a snide trick right out of his book and the only reason that sort of thing is ever implemented is to shaft people out of money.

It's a good job that you give away your age with your username, so we can all write that sort of bullshit off to the ramblings of a naive 19 year old. Otherwise, we'd have had to assume that it was someone with a bit of life experience advocating the implementation of a policy dreamt up by some of the biggest scumbags in football.

(NB: for other 19 year olds. Yes, yes, I know there are plenty of wise and intelligent and reasonable 19 year olds. But statistically there more 19 year olds than older ages who haven't got the capacity to empathise with anyone whose life doesn't mirror exactly their own experiences, as the above shows. What other reason would cause someone to advocate a Glazer policy? FFS!)

Well let me tell you my tale, GStar.

I don't live in Manchester any more but I had a ticket.

In the morning, my wife informed me that she needed to do a couple of hours work in the evening - she can work from home. We have 3 kids under 4 and she said "Do you mind not going?" I said "That's fine, I'll watch it on the telly". I'd have preferred to go but as it was always going to be the reserves and I felt the result was a foregone conclusion, I didn't.

A cynical man might call it credit in the bank and to a degree it was. IF she'd said that on Monday I'd have said "No chance love".

I love Manchester City as much as anyone but I don't feel duty bound to attend to prove my status as a supporter.

Half of our fans have a similar tale, judging by the attendance. Who cares? It was a low key game against low key opposition in a low key atmosphere. It was always going to be that.

I resent clowns coming on here berating other fans for not turning up for these games. I resent even more clowns who seem to think that unless you wear a City shirt and hat, stand on your seat and sing "Who;s the faggot in the pink" all game whilst sweating and talking fucking shite about a game you know nothing about, that you are somehow not as big a fan as them.

They can fuck off to be honest. Noone can question my love of City and my commitment over 30 odd years. I would have been at this game without a shadow of a doubt 10 years ago. But now I have commitments and a life outside City.

There are lots like me. That's life.

dave i have a similar story which i won't bore you with and i know i will miss some games this season because of family commitments, and as you say that's life, but i doubt there are 20,000 plus with a similar excuse for last night.

there will be some for whatever reason that's just couldn't be arsed.
i'm not saying that's wrong but that would have been their only excuse.

No one should have to give an "excuse". Why does it matter to you that they couldn't be arsed. No one is obligated to go to every single game City have ever played.

dnt know if this has been covered already ( cant be bothered reading the full thread) but last time we were in europe and we played these first few games the stadium was empty yet when we got further on people were jumping on board (i dont blame them) and the games were full.
now, i think if we would have got to the final then some people that got to all the first few games and shown their support throughout would have missed out on the final throuh not being able to get a ticket, i think this is unfair, the club should introduce a points system just for cup games where u get first dibs on big cup games exactly like the loyalty points scheme but just for cup games and each season ur points re start.

20k + not bad I suppose taking into account Monday nights match and the expence and in my case finishing work at 1pm.
On top of that I have just spent another 2 x £48 and 1 x £37 for Chelsea tickets on Weds on the City Cards and I have 4 x £28 tickets in my wallet for Sunday add fuel £10 parking this week has cost me with Mondays game over £300, it can't carry on and gates will carry on being in the region of last nights.
If we get to later stages with high profile teams involved, watch the gates v lesser prem teams struggle to fill Eastlands.
I will never knock fans who can't make it for one reason or another.
Not the end of Aug yet and we have seen over 100000 fans in Eastlands already including the Valancia match, not bad.

You miserable bastard, only spending £300 on City in a week.

A real blue would sell a kidney or one of the kids if they had anything about them.

What am I going to tell the reds in the playground when they make me cry be telling me that United are a massive club and City aren't.

It's down to the likes of you and your "I'm not going to spend more than £300 a week on City" attitude that I have to cry myself to sleep at night.

Pathetic, you should be ashamed of yourself. You are costing the mental health service millions in the long run.

The way to solve it, as most clubs do, is that if you want a ticket for the final then you have had to have gone to all home matches in the competition, if that deosnt sell out then it goes to all games less one.

We have a chance to make the final nowadays so this is what they should do.

But there is no "League" final... only away games to put your points to.

In my opinion, someone with a season ticket, and goes to every away game... but no cup games, deserves a ticket to our first final, much more than someone, who just goes to cup games only.

Someone could be spending thousands, each year, but not fancy the cup games, but someone who could maybe have gone to X amount of cup games, for 15 quid each, could get a ticket for the final.

of course that is completely hypothetical
