Why would Celtic and Rangers want to be a mid table club in the prem? They'd never have the financial capability to compete with MCFC/Chelsea or even Manure/Arsenal (then they'd have to qualify for league status first as all clubs do e.g FC United, ten levels in all so would need 9 promotions)

Correct. If the old firm want to play in England (no, thanks), let them enter at the bottom of the pyramid and work their way up like everyone else has to. If they're as good as they think they are, it won't take them that long (6 or 7 seasons-ish).
