Old Rock Stars

Apparently, there's to be a "major announcement about a huge band getting back together" on Zoe Ball's show, tomorrow at 08:30.

My money's on the mighty GENESIS
Well, Collins, Banks and Rutherford. Gabriel not interested and Hackett otherwise engaged. Can you imagine the ticket prices?.

Liam says the offer is for a tour rather than producing new music, but says he wouldn't be against making another Oasis record as long as it didn't sound anything like Noel's current band, High Flying Birds.

Queen were once one of my favourite bands - up to the release of the Game. But I don’t understand this touring with Adam Lambert - his voice is Ok but he’s stood on stage with two geriatrics behind him churning out the same old tunes. They’re not making new music and they’re certainly not Queen. Call the band something else or write something new.
Old Bean perhaps...

Rock music is for young stars, I love it and listen to all the greats, Stones, The Who, Kinks etc; and all were way better back in the day. Their youth epitomises the music, and for me, wrinkly old farts doing it is ridiculous, they just don’t have it anymore.

I agree that rock bands were generally at their peak in their younger days but frankly I call bollocks on the idea that older bands don't have it anymore. What they have may be different now but in many cases is still worth seeing. Some age better than others. People like Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones are still putting bands way younger to shame.

"Thanks" to my daughters I've seen plenty of young bands in addition to still going see the old guys. Last week I saw Mick Fleetwood and Friends paying tribute to Peter Green. Mick played drums for two and a half hours with an energy and power that was impressive for someone of any age. Steven Tyler appeared on some songs and his voice was as strong as ever and he looked in great physical shape (I look forward to seeing Aerosmith later this year).
