Very poor defensively. The board gambled at the beginning of the season due to the relatively solid performances of him and Delph at left back but this decision was a mistake and it has cost us this season. Mendy can’t be relied upon to stay fit and we need to sign a new left back as our number one LB. Too late for this season as we won’t get the quality we need in Jan but this, a DM and possibly a new striker should be the signings in the summer.

He’s put in an impossible situation. He’s asked to do a job and he has the balls to stand up and be counted. Unfotunately his lack of experience and physical attributes make him a fucking awful defender. But he doesn’t hide and gives his all.

Great cross for the third goal, poor for everything else.

Also Bernie is more a 7/10 midfielder, at least, Zinchenko is nowhere near him so I don't understand that.

He's fodder, nothing more nothing less. Plays when our second choice, makeshift, left back is suspended sure.

From the ridiculous to the sublime in ten minutes , he's had enough chances and he isnt good enough playing left back at this level and he wont get a sniff in our midfield , will always be a willing squad player and has a great attitude and workrate , but i cant see him being at the club next season , a move to a club like Wolves or similar would be good for for his development. Nothing against the lad ,but just not quite good enough

Made up for the mistake with a sublime cross. That should help his confidence.

But my concern is that seeing he is only being utilised as a 3rd choice left back ,a position he is not at all built for nor is his preference, could prove a reason for him to move on come summer. The boy has great attributes, good passer/crosser, good shot etc. Shame we don't play him in his preferred position.

I accept he is not a full back and the evidence of that was there for all to see...not saying he is a bad player at all but today imho he was crap.

People saying he had a decent game. How? If you base it on the fact he is a midfielder playing left back and is expected to make mistakes then Yes he was alright. The facts are he gave up a goal and very nearly a penalty. He is piss poor as a lb.

End of the day he's Not a left back. Put in an impossible situation and tries his best. As someone pointed out before we need a new left back to help when Mandy isn't fit. A new Dm and a striker.

He made a bad mistake, but we still had two defenders and a goalkeeper between Hojbjerg and the goal - you wouldn't really expect him to score from there. Ferny and Laporte also gave the ball away in bad positions, but nothing came of those chances, so they're forgotten. As for the "penalty", his mistake was to let the guy get behind him, but it still needed the perfect chip to get there and then he did very well to make some sort of challenge without giving away a penalty (yes, it could easily have been called, but by modern Premier League standards, there's no way it was a penalty - same for the challenge on Sterling later on).

I still rate him as a good back-up and considering Delph's recent form, I'd prefer Zinchenko v Liverpool even if Delph was available.

Definitely not, he is a premier league player he should be able to bang 1 good ball in for fuck sake.

He is average & not at the races when we defend so yes I'm back to state the obvious if you don't like then not much I can do about it.

He was as good as Mahrez tonight average

But not ready to call out a midfield player who is being asked to perform in an unfamiliar role.

I think we need to give the boy( and that’s what he is) a chance. He hasn’t played for a while and apart from that mistake which hopefully he will learn from he did ok. Not sure if he should start Thursday but I wouldn’t put Danilo there. It went horrible last time he played there.

Had a bit of a horror first half defensively but he at least did show why he should be in the team ahead of Delph at the moment with a tremendous cross for the goal. It's a conundrum for Pep because none of the left backs are good enough for the Thursday game and whoever plays will be targeted so he will pick based on however he wants them to play. I wouldn't like to be the one making the decision. He might even go Laporte.
