Maybe your right but he has to learn the same frigging mistakes over again.

100% Danilo players there on Thursday
Danilo was a disaster the last time he played LB. Put him there against the dippers and 90% of their attacks will come down his side. What Zinch or Delph needs is a winger that backs them up all the time not just when they can be arsed.

After his mistake went on to be "the best player on the pitch" according to Pep. I believe he adds an extra dimension to the attack. Nevertheless I'd be really scared seeing him on the team sheet as LB in a back four come Thursday.

Pep: "With what happened with Zinchenko, how he reacted, that is the lesson we have to learn for the young player. After what happened he didn't hide or say 'I didn't want the ball'. He was the best player on the pitch."

Clearly not a leftback but he is levels above Delph as a footballer. Danilo will probably start there on Thursday though, purely for his defensive nous.

It's the equivalent of starting David Silva at LB when he first moved here, or Mahrez seven years ago. Give the man a fucking break. In terms of attitude and commitment to helping the team there are probably very few in the squad that match him. And unlike Walker and Delph in recent weeks, after costing us a goal he improved instead of collapsing pathetically into the realms of panic.

Blame Pep for Zinchenko's mistakes, not him. Pep knows the risk he's taking.

Also, he is our only fullback who could pull off that cross except Mendy. And Mendy's got no legs.

The thing that's pissing me off most about this situation at the moment is the lack of protection for Zinch, take that ball over the top to Ward Prowse which led to the penalty shout, that pass was clearly telegraphed by the passer who had acres of time and space to put it where he wanted, where's the press to put pressure on the passer?

Pep: "With what happened with Zinchenko, how he reacted, that is the lesson we have to learn for the young player. After what happened he didn't hide or say 'I didn't want the ball'. He was the best player on the pitch."
You have to admire the way Pep protects and encourages the players, even when they slip up.
Zin wasnt the best player on the pitch by any means. Other than his mistake for the goal, his challenge that could have easily resulted in a penalty )lost his man then was clumsy in the challenge), his distribution was very poor at times. I'm being factual rather than critical. His attitude has always been fantastic and I am sure he is a bloody good midfielder, if only we could see him play there. He is not though a top PL left back and I don't believe he ever will be.

From the ridiculous to the sublime in ten minutes , he's had enough chances and he isnt good enough playing left back at this level and he wont get a sniff in our midfield , will always be a willing squad player and has a great attitude and workrate , but i cant see him being at the club next season , a move to a club like Wolves or similar would be good for for his development. Nothing against the lad ,but just not quite good enough
Have to agree

The lad is a makeshift defender. He might not be the world's tenth best makeshift defender but he's my kind of player, and yesterday was not the first time he's floated one into the area that resulted in a goal. He's one of those players who can drop a bollock and then rectify with some outstanding play!
