Rusty, if we’re being kind. He’s such a fundamentally different player to Mendy and I’m yet to be fully convinced by either of them, but Zinchenko was finding form before his injury and I’m happy to give him time to grow into the position

Simply phenomenal touch and confidence. He may have been a little eager to get forward at times, but to come straight back in and manage the full ninety, in that heat, said a lot for him. The fact that there was no Mendy or Danilo on the bench also speaks volumes for the regard the management hold him in now.

He was solid yesterday. When you think about how long some players take to settle back in after injury I thought it was really impressive. Played like he'd never been away.

Defensively yes, but I really wouldn’t under estimate mendys attacking ability, he has a monster of a left foot on him

Two really good players. It's such a shame we haven't seen anything of Mendy. When he focusses as much on his defensive duties he is a really solid full back and we have seen it in a couple of the games he's played against top level opposition. Zin is an immense talent but doing a great job out of position. I think he is Gundogan's replacement when he leaves and I rate Gundogan. Zin is totally adept at receiving the ball, turning and setting up attacks.

It's not his natural position, though he clearly can now do a very good job there. Of course, Pep seeks such different things from a full back too, which is part of that.
