£16m would normally be good but a player who has trained with Pep and played in a team that just had a historic-record breaking season, unmatched by any team as far as a top flight season goes would surely command more if it weren't City who were selling. We are City though and it's a tidy profit on what we paid for him.

Does the move suit the player though? I seem to remember they played horrible football when they played us, they'd need a good few seasons recruitment and a new manager before that changes so I wouldn't blame him for declining for footballing reasons.

He's a quality player who could well come good some day, perhaps to some he hasn't been able to show the best of his game, due to being played out of position at LB but the training vids show he's up there with some of our best players in terms of ball control in the rondos and the keepy-uppy challenges they do, he's got quite a shot on him too. I think he will make it to top level football personally because of his attitude and his determination to succeed. On the basis that the Citywatch podcast(I think) that gave a little bit of background on him is correct about how hard he had to fight to get noticed when he had no club playing in a free agents league in Russia or something like that. Many would have given up before that point but he stuck at it and went from no club, to getting a contract with a club in Russian football, to playing well enough for City to take notice.

It's a shame Bristol weren't promoted as despite being seen as a smaller club they do play the right football, he could shine there with first team football week in week out to evolve his game. I'm not sure there is team newly promoted or in the bottom half of the table that do play the right kind of football for him in the PL.

Napoli would have been a good move for him but I guess they've cooled their interest.

If the plan for Malaga is to play to the City Group philosophy then that would be a no brainer to me.
A bit harsh on Wolves tbh, I thought they played good football last season, and clearly have an outstanding manager. They held us for 2 hours at our place, and from what I recall they played mostly reserves, it wasn’t just us

Wolves are a very good side and will finish top 10 this season.
The manager is very astute and knows what he wants. Also in Ruben Neves they've got a player I'd have a City.
I like Zinchenko but like others have said it's good money and a good move for him.

It actually sounds like a great move for him. Will be a bit sad to see him go but it's not too likely that both Mendy and Delph combined will miss as much next season as they did the last one. Not to mention that's not even his position.

The academy doing exactly what academies are set up for

Zinchenko has never stepped foot in the academy!

We bought him when he's already been playing senior football in Russia, loaned him to PSV for a season and then he spent a season in the first team.

This is the big point imo: the kid plays midfield or secondary attacking out wide. Not fullback.

It's not fair keeping him at City, if we don't trust him to play his actual position for even 5 mins. (And there is no room in he squad if our signings come in).

If we are letting him go though, it won't be as a favour, it will be because the new signings are coming.

Thought Zinchenko didn’t like the English climate and am surprised he hasn’t gone abroad. Still, it all depends on who’s going to pay a decent price for him and anyway, Wolverhampton being that bit further south, he’ll see more sun and light and less rain and gloom there than here in Manchester, I suppose. On a more serious note, I’m sorry to see him go but as an attacking midfielder he’d not get a look in next season and he’ll not make it as a left-back/wing back. A good squad player who has always seemed cheerful and co-operative, ready to learn and willing to work on his game but someone has to make room for Jorginho and Mahrez. I think under Espírito Santo, he could well develop into a very good player. He certainly has the technical ability and drive to progress. I wish him well.

Wolves have a bargain on their hands if true.

The lad has bags of ability and doesn't go missing in games either.

Wish him well.
