Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

Dumped by Canal Street Blues ? Sorry John but who ever told you that is wrong. Myself and quite a few other members resigned our positions within the Canal Street Blues Branch due to what we thought was unacceptable behaviour by a committee member.. And talk of trying to set up a breakaway group is just nonsense as is making the group more "heterosexual" - as a gay Man why would I even want to do that ? - Absolute poppycock. Before posting rubbish like this why don't you pick up the phone and talk to me about it or does that not fit it with you being able to spin this rubbish to suit your narrantive ?

Is it fair to ask why did Kevin not bring it to the attention of the OSC Committee when he was asked to sign as the City Matters OSC Rep a week ago ?

You shouldn't have to apologise for anything given he'd seen it.
I agree and I did say to Alex that no apology was needed. The letter was sent to an email address I rarely use whilst I was away on holiday - these things happen. Myself personally and the OSC support the message within the letter - hence sending it out to Branches yesterday once I knew it had been released

Agreed, let's keep it on topic please. It's too important a topic to get derailed by infighting imo.
The leader(ship) of the OSC has been in post too long.

Undoubtedly decent person/people, however the best organisations need a balance of continuity and change.

The time will Undoubtedly come for this but its NOT now.

A rock solid, consistent, approach to the club on this and other subjects is essential.

Khaldoon is the biggest charlatan of the lot. Speaks very eloquently but what he says is full of shit. Pretends the club cares about legacy fans but under his stewardship the club has stopped issuing season tickets, fucked over our away ticket allocation, encouraged mass replacement of legacy fans with tourists, enabled away fans to get home tickets, etc.

Edit for Khaldoon read Khaldoon and Sorriano. They have done more than any execs in our history commercially, done more to undermine the fanbase than anyone else - all the time whilst lying how much they care about our history and legacy fans

My own take on this is that Kevin Parker clearly supports the letter but he bottled out of sticking the OSC moniker on it, instead hiding behind his role in City Matters to endorse it.

Now in a way, I can kind of understand that Tim because the OSC, unlike most of the other groups, are not independent of the club so it puts them in a more difficult position. However, Canal Street Blues are part of the OSC and City Matters are the official MCFC fan advisory board and their names are on it so all things considered, it’s not really an excuse for the OSC’s name not to be on it. And if the OSC had put their name to the letter, that would’ve added huge weight to it because they have more members than all the other groups put together.
We did support the letter but as I had been on holiday and the letter was sent to a different email address it was missed. By the time I emailed Alex confirming our support (less than 24 hours after receiving it) the letter had already been sent. I had previously made City Matters aware I would be difficult to contact as I was going on holiday. I was no big deal though the most important thing was the letter being sent

Anyone know when they announced the present season ticket prices and any link to it ?

From memory, it was around the end of March for this season's information.

Presuming that the Club want to follow a similar trajectory this season was a key driver behind the letter that went out yesterday.

From my perspective as a so-called legacy fan.
Good on yer for doing the letter.
It’s in the open so it will need a response. It can’t be ignored because to do so would alienate a big % of supporters who once gone, are unlikely to ever return.
I’m not going to dissect who signed or didn’t sign as it dilutes the message.
Which boils down to,
We want affordable tickets for all fans attending.
We want our local support to grow not diminish.
We welcome new fans from all across the world but not to the detriment of the life blood of this club.
We want our owners to recognise the financial hardship that the Greater Manchester area, when compared to other areas, lives with and provide affordable and proportionate prices to those people. Many of whom propped up the club when it was completely on its backside (remember the 2 year season ticket to help with finances?)
There are so many opportunities for the club to win back some of the lost trust if they see sense and act accordingly.
Whatever the outcome, it won’t please everyone, but any step taken to repair some of the damage done will be progress.
As a season ticket holder of many years I may not be the recipient of any goodwill the club offers, but if that means we get lots more local people, young and old people whom are supporters of the club, not influencers, social media types, people wearing other clubs hats, scarves or shirts, or tourists with no affinity to the club, then that will be a great success from my perspective.
Well done to those that are acting in the best interests and on behalf of all us true blues.

There is a way & need for every category of fan.

However, strategic consideration & decisions must be shown & made for the benefit of local, financially constrained fans particularly 'young' ones who are not only the next generation but the genesis of all future generations !!

The model is similar to sorianos at barca, commercial and global appeal and success while relying on the locals loyalty no matter what comes at them

Ok, thanks for clarifying

Would it not have been better for the OSC make it clear to the club that the OSC agreed 100% with the letter, publicly? Or might that have been too inconvenient?

Appreciate that Kevin, it is a problem when so many different emails/groups are involved.

Like you said, most important thing is the letter was sent.

I hope the club will make a formal response, as their 1 paragraph statement they sent to BBC Radio Manchester was embarrassing.

Whilst growing the club to the biggest commercially in the world, winning 7 league titles, 6 league cups, 2 FA cups, 1 UCL, 2 charity shields, one club world cup and one UEFA super cup. Charlatan indeed.

I was told the other week about Soriano's exploits at SpanAir, Catalonian airline, which folded under his leadership as Chairman and he was fined millions of Euros and banned from managing other people's wealth in Spain for 5yrs! We've let this arsehole wreak havoc on the heritage and local fanbase of the club while Txiki and Pep's sporting successes cover for him.

SpanAir is where he also met Nuria Tarre, the Marketing Exec who misjudged the mood when she said "99% of City fans are from outside Manchester"

I can see both sides be honest, a few years ago we (City fans) were critical of our noisy neighbours in Salford Docks for attracting the Posh Spice and her toy boy fans from the south east. Now City have built a following based on a great decade or so of results, so obviously there are people who want to experience the Etihad and watch the team. I have only been to the Etihad once, before the south stand was extended, but would love to go again, but most Mancs would class me as a tourist, even though I have been to hundreds of games at Maine Road long before many of you were born. The club is arguably far more sympathetic to the regulars than most other top six clubs, maybe Liverpool and Everton aside, and whilst I recognise the cost of living to earnings ratio differs across the country, most of the hyper-rich fans are in London, hence Arsenal, Spuds, Fulham, Chelsea fans can inflate season ticket prices faster than most northern clubs. I do sympathise, City should ring-fence a proportion of seats for regulars, but also hold back a smaller proportion for others who just want an occasional experience. At least with a 60k plus capacity, surely it is possible to accommodate locals for a discount. If I travelled up to Manchester from the south coast, it would mean one or two nights in a hotel, plus the train tickets etc. The one-off ticket price, if it was possible to actually get one, would be the least of my financial concerns. Sadly, there are enough people who grab tickets because they are rich, the same applies to all forms of entertainment. I can’t blame the club for raking in revenues from tourists like me, but if you care to read my post in full, I have been a loyal City fan most of my life, 62 years and counting, and I am 70 next week.

Anyone who thinks the club could give a flying fuck what the fans think about ticket prices are living in cloud cuckoo land.

They won't even notice this letter exists, let alone read it or listen to it.
