Well said only that going by your post, I'd mistake you for a Denayer fan rather than a city fan. You have mentioned things as they favour Jason Denayer without demonstrating how they will be in our best interest. I'm simply telling you that if we did what I proposed, Denayer will still get decent playing time in the club we loan him out to, hopefully. And because MDM would be off the following season, it would be a case of easing him into that space. I admit that this may not be the best path for him but I dare say, its way better than what you're proposing. In other words I'm not arguing whether or not he has a right to see off his contract or which path is best for him as a person, what I'm rather saying is that City would be the better for it. One more thing: its one thing to trust somebody and quite another for that person to repay your trust and you seem to be equating the two. In any case, there are no certainties in football and life in general but I'd rather that somebody earned my trust (in this case, giving him opportunity to hone his skills in a rival PL team) than just deciding to trust and hope my trust will payoff!

No idea what the fuck you are going on about, but I'm saying it's possible Denayer may leave if City try to loan him out & that I think he may be better than the available central defenders who would be brought in to replace him, who would take up a place on the squad which could otherwise be used by a signing in another position, & also cost us an extra 30 million quid, then perhaps not turn out to be as good as Demichelis.

That's not an impossible situation it's a possible situation.

You would like to gamble 30 mil plus Denayer's future, I would rather trust Denayer, Demichelis, Kompany & Mangala.

I recon the club will think like that too, but we will see.

So if denayer has a great season out on loan he comes back to us and then what?

We would have four top out and out centre backs, one who is the captain and the two others would have been brought in for huge fees. How would Denayer fit in to that.

Jason has a choice to see out his contract and move on or sign a new one alright but if we are able to get him to sign a new contract by offering him, for example, three times more than what he currently earns with assurances that we are preparing him for a special role in the team the following season and we are doing so by loaning him to a Norwich for example, that would be a shrewd move especially if we get a relatively more in form and more experienced CB for £10 to £15 (whoever that person is) on board this season. The point I'm making is that the above plan may not be the best for Jason as an individual player but very proactive and shrewd for the club especially because MDM will not be with us for much longer. Note this will not cost us extra £30m but £15 at the most if you factor in the Negredo issue. Even if he turns out to be flop and Jason is doing great in Norwich, we can always recall him from loan and the only thing we'd need to cry about is our £10 million spent on the beast and this is not too much of a risk imo.

If we really want a defender for rock bottom prices I'd rather we put in a cheeky bid for Gonzalo Jara. Tenacious player, keeps a tight back line, no finger pointing when it all goes to shit. City material if I've ever seen it.

The money for Negredo is ours! If we give them money instead of receiving it, we are paying every penny of the transfer fee for Otamendi!

You cannot recall players from long term loans, which means any short loan deal could end up with Jason back at City as 5th cb.

You are saying it's shrewd to spend 30 mil on a cb when we already have 3, & risk losing a fantastic prospect whilst also having to sell one of our overseas players to make way for our new 4th cb.

I'm suggesting that the 'shrewd' thing would be to sign Denayer, put him in the first team squad, use him as a homegrown player, & receive 20 odd million quid towards paying for Strrling etc.

Look at it this way: we are owed 20 million quid by Valencia and we agree to be paid in kind rather than cash so that we can now sign a player whose buy-out clause says 35 million or so, for 10 million or a little more. We are actually forking out 10 million pounds extra for a player who is currently worth 35 million. U*d just had a bid in the region of £24 million for Otamendi rejected.

Realistically I'm not sure Jason's performance against France did us any favors. He has one year left on his contract and the national team coach for one of the foremost footballing countries thinks that Denayer is one of the better defenders in Europe. Not one for the future, or anything along those lines... currently one of the better defenders in Europe. On top of that the player got a standing ovation from the crowd. When was the last time you saw a standing ovation for a central defender, let alone on his debut? He went on loan last season and could hardly have played better.

Whatever we may think of Jason on these message boards, I don't think he or his representation view him as a youth prospect, or a promising player. He's just a first team footballer now with an excellent track record. With one year left on his contract I think we have to match their ambition/valuation and incorporate him into the team or thank him and wish him well. The time for convincing him that he owes another year of proving himself, somewhere like Norwich, might unfortunately be past.

Also I'm not sure how I ended up with that "I'm special!" font above, but if a mod can fix it and delete this post that would be lovely. Kept getting a pop up error that said CAPCHA BOX if that has anything to do with it.

Yes, we are forking out 30 million. The 20 they owe us, plus 10 more. Then we have to sell one of our overseas players to make room for him & we may lose Denayer, who we already have, & is homegrown, & U21 thus not taking any space in the squad.
