And the coat of arms pre dates the ship canal
And ships, and canals, predate the coat of arms.
And the coat of arms pre dates the ship canal
He suggests it should be changed to the bee if you read that far.
That would be a great user namewoke, jobsworth snowflake!
That made me splash the keyboard with some 1664 so deserves more than a like ;-)Crikey, can't believe how much traction this is getting. I'm sure slavery is the first thing anybody thinks of when they look at our badge?!!! If it is they're clearly a woke, jobsworth snowflake! You can twist most things to suit an agenda if you look and try hard enough.
What next? Ban the Arsenal badge because an individual is upset they discovered somebody died from cannon fire? How about ban the Brighton badge because seagulls keep shitting on my car and I think they're mocking me by having it on their shirt?
Perhaps someone has mentioned it already but didn't the original Chelsea FC badge have a Chelsea pensioner on it? Read it somewhere, and it's always possible that someone was having a bit of fun. But if it did have a pensioner what mileage could you get from that? I expect that it would offend someone retrospectively but I really cannot think how. Of course it could be the other way round: a retro reinstatement of the pensioner on a new Chelsea badge would be A Good Thing, showing the caring side of Chelsea FC.Crikey, can't believe how much traction this is getting. Yep the statue was there on the front near Wilmslow Road until the late 70s/early 80s iircyeah that "massive" boat all the kids piled on to and went round the lake.
Not a slave in sight and Lincolns statue was there.
"The Barnard statue was sent to Manchester on the strength of the support of local cotton workers for Lincoln, the Union and the abolition of slavery in the American Civil War. "
