We were not fucked, the supporter base and money into the club would have seen us stick it out for a while longer. It was more the relief of avoiding another year in that division.

We were much closer to financial meltdown during Thaksin, when only John Wardle loaning £2m to cover wages over the Christmas period saved us.

Wardle would have simply come to the club much sooner if the Gillingham result had turned out differently.

How can you say that about wardle? Bernstein said himself that we wouldn't have survived another season in there and royle said they would have had to sell players to survive. Make no bones about it we would've been fucked if we didn't beat Gillingham.

Newcastle away. Bigger is every way, because it involved a direct rival and more than one team in the equation.

People forget, Newcastle were also going for a Champions League place.

Without Newcastle, there is nothing. No QPR, there is no Sergio moment.

Newcastle is the most nervous I've ever been pre match.

In terms of impact on our club this isn't hugely significant. However it's the biggest game we've played in a European competition ever. Either way I hope ALL the fans are behind the team tomorrow - we need them.

For the simple reason if we lose tomorrow night it doesn't change much,Pep will still come,the owners won't walk away and we will still advance all aspects of the club albeit with a slight hiccup.
If we failed to beat Gillingham the long term consequences might have been disastrous and resulted in a Leeds type scenario.
For me tomorrow doesn't even get in top 5

Me too, we went up without tickets just to be near the action. I knew we would beat the scum the game before but was really nervous about the Newcastle game.

Definitely it's why I would vote Yayas goal as most important,a thing of beauty.
Travelled up to Newcastle on the day without a ticket and ended up watching it in a pub,I could hardly hold my pint I was so nervous.
