Our glaring weakness at LB, will it be fixed?

the defeat against real, although not a disaster of any magnitude, 3 of the 4 goals were conceded because of a deficiency in the left back area. i may be being over critical of the two left backs here as there were two youngsters in the central defense area also. apart from the corner (which also came in from the left, but you cant do anything about that!!) the other three goals came down our left side that real exploited to great success. kolorov was at fault entirely for the ronaldo goal for tracking him and not holding the defensive line. and the other two goals resulted from a lack of pressure on the ball from the lb position.

real are seeing an area of weakness in our defense, and its an area we have seen for a long time now. if they are seeing it it, manuel and his stats boys are too - and so are all the other teams we will eventually play this season.

in conclusion, we need a new left back and kolorov needs to go, and i say that as a fan that has never criticized him before.

Their first goal came from Nasri letting his man go and then if you want to be over critical, Denayer being on his heels, Nothing to do with kolarov. The second was Humphries not tracking Ronaldo, The fourth you could say Clichy could of done better but it was superb play from Isco, There's not many around that could of stopped him.

In regards to the fourth I think it's more than fair to say Clichy could have done better. Sticking a leg in front of the ball would have done the trick. Allowing a free cross in that position was shocking. The actual build up was superb from Isco but the actual final ball was made far too simple.

humphrey held the line with denayer, if kolo had stayed in position ronaldo would have been flagged. he didnt and there you go.

but the point i am making is that teams are targeting the left side. and that is a concern for me. are you not concerned?

They usually target the left side as it seldom has any cover. Clichy and Kolarov may not be the best LBs out there but weren't any worse than our RBs last season.

Can you explain why Kolarov was stood several yards behind our defensive line playing Ronaldo onside, but not tracking him ? Inexperience perhaps ?
