The Italian league, and italian defending, is certainly not what it used to be. Just watching thier teams playing in Europe this year proves the point; you only had to watch Juve's 1-4 defeat to Bayern (who are not one of the really top sides anymore) recently.

I think he is taking about Italian football in general and doesn't even mention Chiellini in that post you quoted?

Anyway, I don't think Chiellini would leave Italy except for a top, top team like Barca. And after our exploits this year in defence I'd personally like to see us bring in an English speaking centre back - communication is bad enough as it is without another guy to have to wave your arms at until he gets the message.
