Our Suarez ...... not the racist one :)

Depending on how Pellegrini views him, there will already be a vacancy for him once Sinclair is gone unless we buy a replacement for Sinclair. Suarez looks handy on the left which just happens to be our weakest area.

I would not be wanting Suarez to replace Sinclair just yet, too risky, although I do want Sinclair to be replaced.

I think he needs a loan to Spain at a club who is willing to give him game time.

A loan move to Spain would be ideal for his development but if Barcelona are sniffing around then it would be difficult to put them off.

Please remind me WHY we buy young talent again
Cos I feel I'm missing the point ,am I?

Yes you are. The buying of kids is largely a speculation game, it is basically like buying large stocks in commodity, you are speculating on them achieving their potential. Either they progress and you put them in their first team or you make a loss. As it happens Denis Suarez has if anything stalled since he got here.He is still only 19 but he yet to make an appearance in anything not the League Cup. If Barca were to offer 4 million euros I would take it and put the money back into speculating on other young players. Its a business decision, at the moment it seems he is more likely to leave us without living up to his potential than turning to a player worthy of a first team spot. Isco was sold by Valencia at the age of 19 however he had made 52 appearances for the B team and 4 appearances for the first team. Denis Suarez may be the new Isco, but he has to make first team appearances, which means a loan move to club that will give him that is essential otherwise we should take what is a good return on our investment now.

I agree that a loan is proper course of action. He needs to play in order to continue his development. Asking a 19 year old to try to win a spot in the starting XI at Manchester City is almost always going to be unreasonable. The man in front of him, David Silva, didn't make his first start for the senior team at Valencia as a teenager. And as good as Valencia has been, they aren't as Manchester City is now.

But the point is we haven't even been able to get him a loan move, or for some absurd reason we said no. Look at their development, Silva made 14 appearances for Valencia B, he then follows that up with two season on loan at Eibar and Celta. Denis Suarez makes 15 appearances for Celta B, we then buy him and the only appearances he makes are for EDS and 2 league cup appearances spread across 2 seasons. Either we make up for lost ground and get him loan move at a club in Spain or if the Barca interest is real we take the money and come out of the deal without our fingers burnt.

I'm with you on the loan. Too amny of our young players have been in dire need of playing time. Too often Mancini would throw Nasri on for the final 4mns of a game when he could have put Razak etc.. on instead to get them some experience. Glad to see Rekik getting a loan deal at a quality club. We need to do the same for a few others. But to sell him for €4m is a total waste. What would that really do for us? You can't even buy Sinclaire for that.

You reinvest it in other youth players from the continent. Man Utd cashed in on Ravel Morrison when it was clear he was n't going to make it with them, if for any reason it looks unlikely that a youth prospect is not up to it and you have the chance to cash in and get back what he cost you, you have to consider it. Otherwise you have to get him game time and try to get him to 1st team level or you are wasting time or money.

Roman scored for Barca the other day. He will play for the B team more next season.

Suarez is a curious one. He looks good. He is highly thought of in Spain, and out of the Spain u20 squad, he was the only attacking player who hasn't really made a mark at club level yet.

Hopefully Pellegrini can do an Isco sort of job with him and turn him into a star. Be much harder to break through here than it was for Isco at Malaga mind.

Barca aren't willing to promote him to the first team for at least 3 years, does he really want to be playing in the Spanish second division until he is 22-23? He has a much better chance of breaking through here, the competition at youth level isn't nearly as fierce and there is already a slightly ajar door that he might be able to sneak through into the first team fold.

I don't much see the point in moving to Barcelona unless he just wants out of england all together. If he's good enough which it seems like he is it'll be much less competition to break into the first team fold here than it would ever be at barca. They're set on the left and the right for the next 5-7 years with neymar, tello and pedro not to mention deulofeu
