Whether the prawn sandwich brigade like it or not, the only way to get the atmosphere going is to get safe standing introduced to a dedicated singing section, then have a capo and a drummer motivating the fans to sing and jump up and down etc for 90 mins.

I think many will be surprised to see what a drum could do.

You sir are correct.

Presumably the expansion will help in that respect, in making everything a bit more enclosed. But Old Trafford is a dedicated football ground and that's still like a church most Sundays, so it's down to more than stadium design.
Oh yeah, I'm not saying having us in a tiny box would solve all our problems but I think it's a factor. Also from what I've seen the stadium redesign looks like it'll be even MORE open so not to sure about that.

Fuck it.

Where can I buy a drum? Do I need permission to use it in the stadium?

Hopefully they will refuse you permission to bang such a dreadful instrument in the stadium.
Hopefully I don't sit anywhere near you in the stadium.
Could I respectfully advise you buy youself a nice tambourine?

The build of the stadium doesn't help too much either, Cardiff City's ground may be pretty boring to look at but the way it's built amplifies the noise. At the Etihad it travels 20 feet and then drifts into the air never to be heard, it was never designed to be a football stadium and it really shows.

Errrrr, it was actually designed as a football stadium, hence the reason for the temporary stand at the CG's................

Obviously I understand that it has been, what's the best term: "retrofitted" for use by City but it was never designed specifically with City in mind and as such wasn't acoustically tuned to what a Football Stadium should be. Seeing as we are using European examples anyone ever been to the San Siro in Milan? Even when the whole place isn't bouncing it can still be loud simply because of how enclosed it is.

We were the key stakeholders in a stadium design whose primary use was as a football stadium. It was also supposed to have unique acoustic properties which would contain and amplify crowd noise. I didn't claim that we got it right but ours was designed for football, not athletics. Please don't buy into the myth that it wasn't ;.)

The family stand/colin bell need to up the noise levels, the singing sections cant do it all.
They don't really do anything neither. For "vocal"'sections the Singing Section and South stand are desperately poor.
