Palace - Post Match Thread

Crikey, everyone is getting a bit excited here...probably more out of relief that we've managed to win a friggin game more than any other reason. Just like there is over reaction when we don't win, we should apply a bit of perspective here as well. A good performance against a pretty poor Palace side, I'd be far more convinced about this City teams ability if we could put 4 or 5 past the likes of Arsenal/Liverpool etc...in other words, a decent team.
The only teams we've beaten in the league this year are Burnley, Bournemouth, West Ham, Sunderland, Hull, Swansea, Southampton and Palace.....most of the dross.
Great to have Vinnie back, his passing was good today, took his goal really well and he can be cynical and pragmatic at the back as well, he adds that hardness we have been lacking for much of this season.
Fuck me you`re hard to please.

Did the cretin of a presenter on soccer Saturday slit his wrists as the goals went in.

That's the kind of battering we should have been giving half a dozen teams I could name. The back four were probably, certainly in the second half, more solid than we've seen this season. Otters was tremendous and his goal, I did say that MdM would have buried the earlier chance he had(!), a fitting cherry on his day's work. The measure of solidity that Vinnie brings to the team, not just at the back, but throughout the whole team is priceless.

Five goals and none from Jesus. Is that a miracle? A reverse miracle?

took my youngest grandson to his second game today we scored 5 in both I think I should take him more

Reverse miracle ... I like ;)

Palace were poor but City were at times irresistible. I mentioned after the Middlesborough game that without Silva we were trying to cracking a nut with a sledgehammer and missing, add in to that starting without natural wide players we chocked the middle of the park and allowed DeBruyne, Jesus's and Aguero no space. Well I feel slightly vindicated as Sane and Sterling dragged their full backs all over the place as well as occupying their wide men for large pats of the game. The Palace midfield struggled and often failed to cope with Silva who was simply majestic, and as a result De Brunner loo,Ed like a player again, his transition play doesn't always come off, but he tends to play higher risk balls than others in the team which release the forwards. He and Silva put Sane in quite a few times as a result. Please Pep more of the same until the end of the season.

Precisely what we needed. Big save from Willy at 1-0. We are a completely different team with silva on the pitch. 2 draws tomorrow would be great.

Brilliant team performance, the early goal took all the pressure off and allowed us to relax and just play our natural game. We looked a lot sharper and a lot more intensive in our pressing without having a game midweek. Great save by Willy at 1-0 too. As much as I absolutely love Sergio and don't ever want him to leave, Gabriel Jesus is a better fit. His movement off the ball and hold up play creates so much space for Sterling, Sane and especially De Bruyne. Defenders don't know whether to go with him or drop off and a lot of the time they do neither out of pure confusion, they haven't got a clue who to try and mark.

Just got in to watch the game, pulled a beer, gagged the wife, turned the phone off and Sky have only recorded the pre match build up.

We look like a decent team again and I miss it.

I listened to Big Fat Sam after the game whilst I was waiting to get out of Blue Car Park, and it was quite clear he hadn't seen the same game as we did! The crux of his observations centred on the fact that but for the five goals conceded they were well in it! And Willy's one handed save was the only difference between the two teams!!

To be fair if he said we were really shit and didn't have a hope the players might get upset

Delusion from the caff

fecks me off to see City winning at home like that, we have I think a better squad than City, we should be winning games at home like this.
If we had converted just a few of those draws, we would not have to worry about CL football next season.............

Hopefully they won't have to worry about CL, next season ;-)
Anyway great game today and thoroughly enjoyable watch.
