Palace - Post Match Thread

Great performance and a comfortable win despite some pretty poor play in the final third, such was our dominance. Sane is fucking terrifying, yet actually didn't really result in any goals despite roasting them all game, fuck knows how many goals and assists he'll get when he just sharpens up that last bit. Silva makes all the difference though, just cannot get the ball off him and he makes everything tick at a high speed. A lot better from Kev today as well, given a bit more space to run into and he took advantage of it.

All round, very good stuff in a game I thought had banana skin written all over it. Hopefully a nice dull draw tomorrow and we're sitting pretty

I listened to Big Fat Sam after the game whilst I was waiting to get out of Blue Car Park, and it was quite clear he hadn't seen the same game as we did! The crux of his observations centred on the fact that but for the five goals conceded they were well in it! And Willy's one handed save was the only difference between the two teams!!

Well he is an ex England manager with a 100 hundred percent record, and I am a driveling idiot with a pot noodle dependency and an only half completed 1973 Panini sticker Album.

That said I am right.

Very good performance. There was about five minutes or so in the first half where I thought we looked a bit suspect but other than that it was a formality. Silva and Sane were really good and I just love having the skipper back in the team.

Our entire world should be focussing on what to do When Silva hangs his boots up. A great win but really does show how much more of a clue we seem to have in the final 3rd with Silva playing. Any team would struggle to fill a Silva sized hole but doing it is another thing all together.

Agüero will not ever be forgotten, no matter what happens from here on out. I think he has reworked his game for Pep and I think he frightens opposition defenses to death.

TBH, given the play of Agüero, Jesus, Sané and Sterling, I think Sterling will be the one to miss out. I can't imagine how City could terrorize defenses next season with quality wing backs and Sané and Jesus cutting inside to support Agüero. With Sterling available on the bench, and with Kelechi or A.N. Other, and KDB and Silva sitting in behind them playing in the holes, it will all be down to the quality of the finishing.

Exciting times ahead, especially when we are even considering Agüero not being able to get a game! Crazy times ahead!

I agree with that. We have lacked goals those season from out wide and within the midfield so unless the Silva/KDB axis is broken up I would expect to see Jesus occupying a role out wide and Sane moving across to the right. Jesus I'm not sure is a 30 goal a season player so Agueros goals are crucial in the immediate future. Well that's what I hope would happen.

Fantastic performance today from all the players, especially pleased to see kompany again come through another game and what a goal, hopefully we can finish the season off in a similar way and maybe start to put a fear factor back into other teams when they play us ..

Great team performance, totally dominant, well done to the lads, and well done Willy for keeping his concentration and making a great save when the score was just 1-0. Three more performances like that and a top three finish will be ours for the taking. I'll enjoy some alcohol this evening and thats for sure.

i can see phil foden stepping up and playing the silva role.

Crikey, everyone is getting a bit excited here...probably more out of relief that we've managed to win a friggin game more than any other reason. Just like there is over reaction when we don't win, we should apply a bit of perspective here as well. A good performance against a pretty poor Palace side, I'd be far more convinced about this City teams ability if we could put 4 or 5 past the likes of Arsenal/Liverpool etc...in other words, a decent team.
The only teams we've beaten in the league this year are Burnley, Bournemouth, West Ham, Sunderland, Hull, Swansea, Southampton and Palace.....most of the dross.
Great to have Vinnie back, his passing was good today, took his goal really well and he can be cynical and pragmatic at the back as well, he adds that hardness we have been lacking for much of this season.
Facts are facts, so fair comment regarding who we've beaten, but to suggest games against the Top 7/8 are going to be 4-0/5-0 affairs is going too far in the opposite direction. Let's both be fair and say that some games have been decided by the refs and others have simply lacked a goal. All season, it has been about finishing, as our GF statistics show. But it is amusing to me at least that our GD is better than all but the Top 2, yet we have been getting slated for our poor defence and inability to score. Something is amiss there!

Your last comment has been echoed by everyone on the thread! It is like getting a new £50M defender and leader into the team outside the window.

Finally we play to our potential again and put a team to the sword. Brilliant performance from everyone.
This is Manchester City without Sergio Aguero who is an imperious goal scorer, but a not a great team player.

Our win percentage is 49% with Aguero & 71% without him..... It makes sense of the reservations Pep has about him and the way he wants us to play.

If Real showed us the money, should we take £90m for him & add it to the summer kitty?

Pep was gushing about him in his post match interview, he also admitted that the Prem is so much harder than the German or Spanish league.
We really do need to replace Silva with another magician in the middle in the next few seasons, I'm sure we will be scouring the globe looking for the next Silva.

Just got in to watch the game, pulled a beer, gagged the wife, turned the phone off and Sky have only recorded the pre match build up.

We look like a decent team again and I miss it.
Finish the beer and take full advantage of the gagged wife, mate! Distant second place to watching the game, but one way to get your rocks off!
