Palace - Post Match Thread

Amazing game, just rewatched with the wife and we are both delirious. Not a single even average performance today, everyone was top class.

Silva proved again why he's our best ever.
KDB is simply world class, it's insane so many would get rid of him here.
Vinny is everything good about City in one player.
Otamendi again proving his worth, absolutely unassailable and a sublime goal out of nowhere.
Sane-Jesus-Sterling (SJS) are going to win their first Champions League with us sooner rather than later.

Great game, great performance, great manager, great atmosphere, great to see the flappers fucked off for another week.

Sterling scored a great goal that many will label as an easy chance, far from it. Hopefully we see more of this type of composure from him. Needs to add these goals to his game.

His hardest chance of the match, which was a brilliant strike, but then he doesn't even recognize half his chances!

Sometimes, he needs to be greedier in the box, and sometimes he needs to be less greedy outside it! Once he figures out which is which and when is when, he could become a world class terror.

I was there today, got there early to avoid the traffic and had a lounge about in the square beforehand. It could have been so many more if we had been ruthless in front of goal. VK showing the forwards how to finish was my favourite today.
Great positioning by YAYA, he was always the outlet for the player with the ball.
So glad to see Magic Dave bossing the game, I'm dreading it when he eventually leaves.
I really wanted GJ to get a goal today, his work rate was amazing, you could see he was disappointed to be subbed.
Altogether a good performance against Palace, which could have been tricky had it been the team that bossed Victimpool.

Superb performances all round, with a few players exceptional. The early goal always helps in these type of games. Great save from Willy at 1-0 as well. It was like watching the City of four seasons ago when we put teams to the sword and most home games were comfortable. More of the same please!

Something like that has never concerned Real who just love to collect trinkets. Our form picked up when Jesus came in & dropped off when Aguero came back. Today we were back to our Jan/Feb form & I don't think it was a coincidence either......

Oh that was that golden period when we beat a Crystal Palace side in the cup who made 6 changes and Pep stated we could play much better, struggled to beat Swansea 2-1 requiring a last minute goal (From Jesus) and beat a West Han side for we had previously beaten 5-0.

I'm not knocking the lad, I think he is great but it's oversimplifying things to suggest he plays the team gets a result and it's because of that change. No different to those who used the goal scoring stats of Iheanacho and previously Balotelli to infer they are better players than they actually are.

Personally I would prefer the side to return to the form of the start of the season (9 on the bounce) or 2012 or 2014 when Aguero played and we were hitting 90/100 goals. So I very much doubt our poor form is significantly due to him as he has played in many successful sides.

To be honest over the last couple of weeks Aguero has been much more involved and linking the play than Jesus was today. We have a star on our hands but wishing Aguero away is madness as he is one of the very best in the business.

I agree, decision making is his biggest problem but it will come. Sane also has this issue as do many young players. They will both continue to improve, the future is very, very bright.

Now 4th season on the trot we've scored 100+ goals in a season , just doesnt seem like it this season

Might have this all wrong, but I think we only passed the ball back to Caballero five times in the entire game (Kompany x 2, Toure x 2, and Clichy x 1). Indeed, it seemed as if we were very deliberately keeping the ball higher up the park today and keeping it far away from the goalkeeper; in this respect, we were helped by the fact that Palace were reluctant to press from the front. However, I also noticed that Toure was dropping behind the two central defenders at times, and in the second half Kompany was dropping into a deep right-back position to act as the out ball rather than go to the keeper. Wonder if this is one off or a change to our style of play?

He maybe small but for City he is massive. Silva without doubt the greatest to ever wear the blue shirt

I don't want to start any bun fights - and don't want to see Sergio leave anytime soon.
The above is however tainted with the reflection that without him today we scored 5 - maybe at times with him on the pitch we're over reliant, or simply players won't take responsibility if he's there

Sorry was referring to the league. But yes decent achievement that and in the main achieved with that no good team player Aguero in the side.

And looks like a bloated bull frog.

something was missing from todays win jesus

just could not get in the game and if anything look unfit and maybe still not 100% and i do wonder why risk him if he is not 100% but with aguero out he maybe had to start. but again is the risk worth it and he is still very new to the game in england great win and very big for the fight for top 4 and nice to sit and watch the others

Yeah he's not fully match fit yet but he needs minutes on the pitch to get there

Still put himself about and was looking for the ball all the time

Loved it when he shoulder barged the Palace defender off the ball who must have been 5" taller and 3 stone heavier

But your picking one game to prove a point and oversimplifying to say 'Aguero does not play we score five'. I have watched us score five goals loads of times with Aguero in the team even six on occasions and seen City struggle to beat Swansea with Jesus on the pitch - What does it prove??

This kid is an exciting talent but has played against no one so far. When he starts hitting 30 goals a season, scores key goals, then we can start talking about him as a replacement for Aguero.

Personally I just find it disrespectful to the guy and all he has done for us over 5 years to talk about selling him based on the performances of a player who has started about 6 games for us against the Premietships cannon fodder. Christ even if he is the next reincarnation of Messi he could still get injured and where do we go then??He is the shiny new toy at the moment.
