Palace v City post match thread.

The players are putting the effort in, the problem is we are not playing to our strengths.

442 doeas not suit the players we have, it leaves us way to open at the back. We have got away with it because until this season Yaya has been immense.

The manager is playing people who are not up to the job, Dzeko and Navas jump out, We have no real shape to the team with to many players just in a free roll. Our set pieces are f'in attrocious, we look more like conceding on the break than scoring at a corner

The second goal wouldn't have happened if EDIN dzeko was a technically better footballer.the kind of forward top European clubs have.
As for it being joe harts fault!!!
Goalkeepers have one side of the net and the wall covers the other side.
If the free kick is hit near perfect then it goes in.
Deary me.

Shove ya deary me up your ass. Hart was stood on the other post when freekick was being taken it's a Goal keeping error. I couldn't give a shit who gave the freekick away it should have been saved. Hart gave Puncheon a goal to aim at and he took aim.
Ass?? You american??
Ya?? It's your
Grow up you little clown and watch a video on free kicks.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. Muppet

There was certainly a point in that 2nd half when heads dropped, and I mean really dropped. I don't think we were as poor as we have been recently, but we are incredibly predictable, laboured with the football and look all at sea defensively. The stats don't lie, ever. For as much as I've defended the theory of where we want to go I'll concede tonight that I am now off board. I don't think the holistic approach was ever designed to have us looking over our shoulder to make sure we finish in the top 4. And I don't think they would have seen a poor run of results, which I'm sure would be accepted in the grand scheme, as bad as this and be willing to accept it.

We are not making progress. We have done it again after a title win. Its all about evolution and Pelligrini said so himself only yesterday. Ironically, just like bobby did before he was given the boot. You need big players coming in to move forwards.

I'm not sure where to go now. You see, its hard for me because I've never held Pelligrini responsible, not fully. I think a lot lies with the direction the club is taking and having a branded way of playing football. I think he is a better manager than you are seeing. I don't think he is in the elite as far as a manager goes, he never was. He is a decent manager who needs a bit more independance over a team. Yes he's very intelligent, and the nodding dog that was required, but he's a football manager and I don't think he's being allowed to manage the football. I think he bought into managing in a system, and that system currently isn't working.

Anyway, its always the boss that carries the can and I think he will be clearing his desk very shortly.

The penalty box is NOT a place we need to play football around... it's a place we need to get INSIDE. Once inside, a shot, or a foul (pen) might be possible. GET IN THE BOX, and take it from there lads, don't get to the edge of it, and wait.
I don;t normally agree with much you post, but on this I do to a degree, we do fanny about too much, and even from our 22 attempts tonight, there weren't enough direct ones.

That said, with a 5/22 goal attempt ratio, its hard to understand how they scored twice as many as we did.

Its not good enough.

Agree with that. Our corners are actually an opportunity for teams to break against us.
Strangely we don't have the same attitude when we concede a corner... we don't leave two or maybe three men up to give the opposition something to worry about should be break. We have a human rocket in Navas, and yet we fail to make him an outlet when we break. Instead we'll play it through Toure who will stand on the ball for 2 seconds looking very 'in control' but actually slowing things down. Our only attempts at a break these days are hit and hope up to Aguero who stands little chance against a pair of 6'4 CB's.

Navas can't really be considered a midfielder, his only strengths are speed and (supposedly) ability to get the ball into the box. Since we aren't managing that much, I don't see the point in playing him.

I agree with many posts I've seen tonight and this is another. I'm not sure why Txixi was brought in, I thought there must be some process the hierarchy at City must believe is instrumental but it is clearly not working. I think it's not only Pelligrini's head primed for the metaphorical chopping block. 15 points gained from a possible 33. Not nearly good enough for the ambition City have.

It may have already been said but when I saw the team sheet and substitutes I was not happy. Going with Edin and Kun just didn't make sense given the former's form for us recently. Where was Jovetic? Injured?

Why doesn't the manager make changes early in the game when it is obvious that we needed some energy - absolutely daft bringing Milner on with a few minutes to go.

And what made it more annoying was that my Broadband feed dropped out continually and I didn't see any of the goals.

Now I'll go and read a few of pages to see what others are saying.

We totally bossed that game and, like most others in the past 2 seasons, we still don't have a plan B to unlock an 8/9 man defence on the edge of the box. Palace offered very little and were beatable, but again there's not enough direct action through the middle. And build up too slow. Clichy MOTM for city. As for Dzeko well... Final interesting point - at 2-0 down, Nasri was laughing and joking around during his touchline warm ups. Not the focussed attitude of a pro dedicated to his team and the glorious fans who follow them. Either the manager can't motivate them or the players don't give a hoot about him, but something is clearly wrong in the state of denmark. Well done VK for giving your shirt at the end - he cares.

Doesn't work for me (firefox), just get a blank pitch. I'm not surprised though having watched it live.
