what I'm confused about, and I've only been skim reading as to be honest, a lot of what's been posted so far has been so full of agenda that even De Niro would give up on it.
However, with Israel having this anti-missile defence system, which seems to be working rather well, why do they need to go bombing the shit out of the Palestinians, and risking the lives of multiple civilians in the process? Sure, and this may sound crude, it's not a good position to be in having rockets launched at you repeatedly, if you are dealing with the threat and knocking them out of the sky, surely the better policy is to just keep doing it, and let the world see is that you are not being a) retaliatory, b) aggressive and c) seen to be murdering civilians?
To me, surely Israel's ploy should be to demonstrate the terrorist nature of Hamas, and thus trying to create a situation whereby normal Palestinian citizens turn against their leadership and start to change the ball game, rather than matching fire with obscene amounts of deadly fire, and in the process looking very poor for it and really damaging chances of any agreement.
Of course, it seems to be clear the Israeli government doesn't really want any form of conciliatory agreement, otherwise they wouldn't be so inflammatory, but it just seems that they are intending to keep this conflict going, rather than taking more sensible measures to ensure it stops.
