In the away game there were some crosses that I thought Aguero would have put to bed. I really thought Pep should bring in Aguero last 20 minutes in Paris to kill the game but he didn't.

I wonder if he will change it this time around? We can penetrate their defence and all we need is someone inside the 6 yards to put it to bed! Only one who can do this is Aguero!

Regarding Left Back, could he play Laporte there?

Seems Ferna will be involved one way or another

I don’t think Aguero was ever going to feature in the first game. Even the 2nd leg I think Jesus would have been the go-to player if we needed a goal. After yesterday I think that has changed; if we need a goal Aguero will come on imo.

Manage the tie, waste time from the off, don’t over commit in attack, play the easy pass to keep possession rather than risking an interception, don’t t give them an early sniff like we gave the rags, they need to score twice or they’re out.
Not for me. We should simply play our normal game as all our players have that ingrained in them.

Play our normal game, with all playing to their best will see us in the final.

Let them adapt

I was thinking the same ... I won't be surprised at all by it as well, he just keeps getting better and better with age ... would give us total control in the middle there, certainly better than Rodri to start with and then when he tires, bring is Rodri but by that time we hopefully have control of the tie.
Was expecting Roders to come off for Zinc yesterday.

Not what I would do but wonder if he'll start with Fernandinho and then bring on Rodri second half. I can't believe he is planning on playing 2 DMs as he wouldn't have risked them both yesterday.

Anyway, I hope we play our normal game. We were in the same position against Dortmund and started so passively until they went ahead. I also hope he'll start the 3 that have done so well for us this season in CM - Bernardo, Rodri and Gundogan. We retain possession so much better with those 3 and we really need to keep the ball and wear PSG out.

Doubt Dinho will start with or instead of Rodri. Pep wouldn't drop Gundy or Bernie. And he rates Rodri quite highly. Think Rodri has played more minutes this season than any City player not named Dias. Rodri was rested vs Spurs, Pep decided 78 hours between Palace and PSG would be enough for him to recover. Dinho might be needed in the last 20 minutes or if the game goes to extra time.

Having rested all players bar Rodri, we are likely to press PSG with higher intensity than in Paris and create more chances. Hopefully we will be sufficiently clinical.

Hi all!

Just have a doubt about the Etihad pitch (re Post in thread 'The pitch' https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/the-pitch.349808/post-13652069).

It has been 6 matches since we've played at the Etihad. And our last match there was vs Leeds.

Do we need to worry about the state of the pitch as our play style relies heavily on intricate and accurate grounded passes?

Just wondering if the tactic that PSG would prefer to use is to go long in the channels for Mbappe, Neymar and di Maria to chase, much like how Liverpool use their wingers.

Still 90mins minimum to play, just need to keep them at arms length and then hopefully pick them off,but let’s not get ahead of ourselves they have a very good away record, the players know how close they are to the final and hopefully that also steels the mind for what is required..

Yes we've got to be on our toes from the first whistle something weve not done in recent games.

PSG have beaten, Barca, German rags and rags away in this seasons Champs league campaign.

Weve been better away from home too so we need to be on our guard.

Professional performance the order of the day and we'll be ok.

All I ask is that we actually start playing from the word go for once, we can't waste another 45 mins on the back foot like we did last week in Paris, we have to be on it from the first whistle. I think there will be goals in this second leg so will go for a 2-2, City are in the final.

Ederson, Walker, Zinchenko, Dias, Stones, Rodri, Gundogan, Mahrez, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Foden.

Come on boys make history

----------------Ederson
Walker---Stones---Dias---Zinchenko
-----------------Rodri
--------Bernardo----Gundogan
Mahrez------De Bruyne--------Foden

Good to know we've got a sharp Sergio and Fernandinho on the bench.
I'd start this line up but in a slightly different formation

Bernardo and KDB sitting deep as the legs to help Rodri
Gundogan in the number 10 role
Foden and Mahrez pushed further up field as wide forwards with the license to roam

Believe me, I’m well aware of the maths. My point is that conceding two (or more) is the only thing that can fuck us, scoring first makes only a small difference to that. I won’t feel warm and snuggly inside heading into extra time.

Also, “overtime” get the fuck out of here.
Looking at how PSG tired (before they were reduced to 10) 30 minutes overtime wouldn't be the worst outcome

Bjorn kuipers from holland Will be the ref for this game

According to transfermarket he reffered us 5 Times we won 1 game draw 2 lost 2.....

Also he reffered psg 6 Times 3 Win and 3 draw

I’m a little surprised that Fernandinho is starting this one. I hope it’s instead of Rodri and not alongside him. If we go more defensive we are asking for trouble. Just play our normal game. It wins the overwhelming majority of matches.

He isn't likely to start though.

Rodri stayed to help to defend set pieces and long balls, Ake and Dinho aren't the tallest players.

Gundogan played 3 games within a week: Villa, Spurs and PSG. Rodri can play 3 games as well, he is relatively young and recovers quickly.
