Needs to prove himself in pre-season first, more so in training than the games themselves. We obviously don;t get to see training other than the odd rondo but against United he didn't seem to know what was expected of him, less to do with talent and ability and more just not understanding the tactics in and out of possession. I know he's not been with us for long but i was a little surprised at how lost he looked. Pep is on another level entirely from Rodgers but the football style isn't worlds apart.

If Pep thinks he can be an asset i think he'll stay. He's in a better situation than the other kids looking to break through in that we currently only have 2 players similar to him in Sane and Sterling. There's others that can play his position but they operate differently so if Pep wants to play that way he'll see a fair amount of game time, again though, on the condition he's proving himself in training.

If he goes out on loan to another premier league team though, i wouldn't be disheartened. Should get more game time there and a genuine chance to show he deserves a place in our squad the season after.

Either way, i think this next season is still a learning curve for him whether he stays with us or goes on loan but this is the season for him to make a name for himself and go into the season after not just as a promising kid, but an established player.

Hes 20 and never even has a minute in the premiership. Why would we sell him and not make a profit at least. A loan to prem side and see if he can hack it seems to be the most realistic option to me.

Except he played 10 minutes in the blowout vs Spurs in 2015

I hope he stays and is given a chance next season, particularly as he wouldn't take up a squad place. Thought he did OK against United, and was glad that Guardiola picked him out for praise. Hopefully he'll get some game time against Madrid and Spurs.

He looked fine against United, his defensive side needs work. There was plenty of times Kev didn't pass to him or gave a bad pass with Roberts open.

I worry about a loan to somewhere like Southampton, if he doesn't come in and tear it up then you are likely going to see the manager start to get it in the neck from fans and he will start playing someone else and then Roberts will be sat on the bench.

Sanchez, Aguero, Sterling, Jesus, Sane and Roberts for 3 positions would be amazing.

Then Silva, Silva, Kev, yaya, Dinho and Gundogen for the 3 midfield roles.

If Sanchez comes I don't see Roberts staying -- likely to be loaned out. But if he doesn't and we don't move for another attacking player then I'd love to see him stay.

Agree with your take on the midfielders, I feel like Bernardo will play there more than out wide. Also have Danilo to cover in case of injuries. The squad isn't too big but the depth is going to be much higher quality than we've been used to.
