If Sanchez comes I don't see Roberts staying -- likely to be loaned out. But if he doesn't and we don't move for another attacking player then I'd love to see him stay.

Agree with your take on the midfielders, I feel like Bernardo will play there more than out wide. Also have Danilo to cover in case of injuries. The squad isn't too big but the depth is going to be much higher quality than we've been used to.
I see us signing Mendy, Danilo, Sanchez/Mbappe, and someone like Martinez at centre back.

I worry about a loan to somewhere like Southampton, if he doesn't come in and tear it up then you are likely going to see the manager start to get it in the neck from fans and he will start playing someone else and then Roberts will be sat on the bench.
Wouldn't that prove he isn't good enough to 'cut it' in the prem though?

He's liked a tweet on twitter telling him to "come home" the article is from the telegraph of pep warning players they won't get a chance this season.

Patrick isn't going to feature much for you this season. It's not that he isn't a great player, more you can virtually have any player you want and the expectations are so high at City to be challengers to not only do a lot better in the CL, but to win the league.

I think Pep needs to deliver this year and he knows it. The comment about the young players underlines the urgency and his need to go for experience more.

I hope he comes back to Celtic but hope is easy in football as we all know. I would love us to buy him but in relative terms, we don't have a pot to piss in.

When village teams like Bournmouth have more money than us you know things are fucked for us up here. That us why CL qualification is so important to us.

He loved it here and we loved him, but today is all about cash and we can't compete.

I feel sad now. Wish I hadn't responded to this. :)

No it's exactly because he's not a great player.

Guardiola has never had a problem playing youth. His record shows he'll do it and he even gave Garcia a few games last year. Roberts has a whole pre-season in front of the boss to edge his way into his plans and if he hasn't done enough to earn a bit of faith then it's a shame but is what it is. Not every player becomes world class and not every player develops the technique and intelligence to work in a Guardiola system.

Not that I'm writing Roberts off, nor defending our quite frankly awful youth promotion policy, just pointing out that 95% of the game at Roberts position is about mentality. If he's decided he won't get into the City first team because his path is blocked then he's exactly right and should leave.

I see no reason he cant challenge Sterling soon.

i have watched him playing for Celtic imho he is lightweight and Average/ decent player Playing in a league inferior to the prem Also it doesnt seem Celtic are fighting to get him back However if PEP sees something he can work with, perhaps sending him to a championship team with the premise of regular games might help Whether its with City or someone else i wish him well

needs to be braver in the next couple of games, at worst he's off to Girona for a year, at best he can pull out a couple of stellar performances and maybe change that view.

He has nothing to lose and from the extended highlights I've seen from the United game, Foden played completely uninhibited whilst I thought Roberts was a little too "cautious".

We don't buy him because we don't think he's up to it, he just needs to bring it out himself against better sides.

I'd really have to question how much of either you've seen play if you think Roberts and Sterling are at all similar quality of players.

They are worlds apart in terms of movement and intelligence. Roberts constantly takes too many touches, dribbles into corners and over complicates things, and Sterling is one of the best people in the team at finding space and making intelligent runs.
